How to use citrus peels
 

The long-awaited season of oranges and tangerines has arrived. And if you are still throwing away citrus peels, read what you can do with it and start saving up valuable peel.

Orange peels contain a lot of useful vitamins, and their use will have a beneficial effect on health. For example, vitamin C is 2 times more than pulp, as well as calcium, dietary fiber and phytonutrients.

If you do decide to use orange peels, then, firstly, the oranges must be washed thoroughly, and secondly, they must be thoroughly dried so that they do not become moldy during storage.

Orange peels make a good face scrub – it can improve the complexion, brighten it and reduce the appearance of age spots.

To prepare it, you need to grind dried orange peels, mix with plain yogurt or sour cream and massage onto the face. Leave the scrub on for 10 minutes and then rinse off with cool water.

You can also make a body scrub. You will need a third of a bar of baby soap, 3 tablespoons of water, 2 tablespoons of ground crusts, a tablespoon of sea salt, and a tablespoon of glycerin.

Grate the soap on a grater as fine as possible, melt in a water bath, mix with water and add the crust. Only now remove from the bath and add the rest of the ingredients. Apply the scrub to any part of the body during bath procedures.

Ground orange peels can help whiten your teeth – just add them to your toothpaste or simply rub the back of the skin over your teeth.

Medicine

Due to the presence of vitamin C, orange peels are considered an immune boosting agent. Just crumble them finely into tea or brew them separately. They not only help fight colds, but also normalize digestion.

In the kitchen

Use ground orange peels as a flavoring for baked goods, additives in smoothies or vitamin cocktails, in tea or compote when making it, or you can try making candied peels from orange peels.

Pour fresh skins with water for a couple of days. Then change the water and boil the crusts for 15 minutes, then change the water and boil again, and again. Cut the cooked rinds into strips. Boil the syrup – 2 cups of sugar in a glass of water, throw the crusts into the syrup and boil until the crusts are transparent. Add citric acid at the end. Remove the finished candied fruit from the heat, drain the syrup and dry it. Roll in sugar and dry in a warm oven.
