How to understand that the mixture is not suitable for a newborn child, baby: recommendations
When a woman cannot breastfeed her baby, she uses special formulas. But sometimes the mixture is not suitable for a newborn, and it is important to notice this in time and replace the baby food with another. To do this, you need to pay attention to some of the symptoms.
How to tell if a formula is not suitable for a child
Each baby reacts differently to formula, but there are a number of basic manifestations that indicate that the mixture needs to be changed.
The following symptoms are considered pathological:
- Allergic reaction. It is manifested by skin rashes and redness. The rash appears on the cheeks, neck, forearms, buttocks, and abdomen. The kid becomes very moody and constantly tries to rub the reddened areas. When you touch the baby, the skin feels dry and rough. In no case, do not smear inflammation with creams, as this will only worsen the condition of the skin.
- Stool disorder. Diarrhea or constipation may occur. If there is mucus or white lumps in the stool, then the food is not completely digested.
- Intestinal colic. Signs of intestinal colic are: restlessness while eating, rumbling in the stomach, flatulence. Such symptoms can also occur when excess air is swallowed, therefore it is recommended to put the baby on his stomach before eating, and after eating, hold the baby in an upright position. If the symptoms persist, then you need to see a specialist.
- Regurgitation. The baby spits up air a few minutes after feeding, and this is quite normal. The pathology is the frequent regurgitation of large amounts of food.
- Weight problems. Babies on artificial complementary foods with mixtures should be actively gaining weight. If the weight does not change, or the gain is quite small, then this indicates poor digestibility of food.
If you notice one or more of these symptoms, it is most likely a matter of improper diet and it is time to change the formula.
Recommendations for choosing a mixture for babies
There are three main types of mixtures:
- physiological,
- medicinal,
- lactose-free.
Physiological mixtures are fed to healthy children who do not have problems with the digestive system and are not prone to allergic reactions. With the help of medicinal products, you can improve the functioning of the stomach and intestines. Lactose-free are intended for those who suffer from lactose intolerance, stool disorders, regurgitation.
If in doubt which species is best for you, consult your pediatrician. He will take into account the state of health of the newborn and select the optimal nutrition for him.
