How to turn ordinary vodka 5 lakes from Magnit into a milk-coffee liquor: sharing the process

Recently gathered with friends for a picnic with barbecue and beer. And, as is customary in any male company, there was a discussion of alcoholic beverages. Unfortunately, it turned out that most of my comrades have stereotyped concepts – a man should only drink strong alcohol.

In general, they made a rating of alcohol “for real men.” This, of course, is vodka, cognac, whiskey, moonshine. And I became the only one who tried to make liquor in the “Top of the Best”. They made fun of me, they say – this is only for girls. I did not give up my position and invited friends to my place for a liquor rendezvous.

The story was sent by blog subscriber Denis.

Why I decided to make alcohol myself

I wanted to prove to my friends that the liquor is quite suitable for our brave company.

I collected a standard set of truly masculine alcohol.

But I went the hard way! I did not buy a beautiful and expensive bottle of liquor in the store, but made it myself. Although initially I thought that I would invite my inexperienced comrades to Sheridan’s (“Sheridans”). Probably no one can resist him. And that would be my clear victory!

The leader of my hit parade among liqueurs, which always decorates my home bar.

But making your own alcohol has its advantages. For example, the preparation of liquor significantly saves the budget (the cost is several times less than the cost of buying in the alcohol market).

Also, I have full confidence that it will be made from quality ingredients, and I will not drink fake-counterfeit mumbo jumbo.

I confess right away, I decided to make a milk-coffee liqueur. This is not only an incredibly tasty classic, but also requires a minimum of time to implement the idea. The best option if guests suddenly appeared.

What ingredients are required

I wanted to make a milk-coffee liqueur, because the ingredients for it require the simplest. The costs are minimal, but the taste promises to be unique!

I learned the recipe from a sommelier friend. He also periodically indulges in the fact that he prepares the most delicious drinks in his free time, so to speak, from work. So I prepared:

  • vodka “Five Lakes” – 0,25 l (I bought it in the nearest “Magnit” for 240 rubles, but, of course, you can also take good moonshine);
  • condensed milk “Korovka from Korenovka” – 200 gr. (a jar of 380 grams in Auchan costs 96 rubles);
  • Jacobs instant coffee – 3 teaspoons (I took 3 “disposable” bags, total 36 rubles);
  • vanillin – 2 gr. (5 rubles);
  • boiled water – 2 cups (400 ml).

I recommend using Five Lakes vodka for making liquor. As they say – cheap and cheerful.

My estimate was only 377 rubles. I gave this amount to get about a liter of liquor. For Sheridan’s (“Sheridans”), which I originally wanted to treat my friends to, I would give about 3 thousand rubles (per liter). A very nice savings!

It is not worth saving on high-quality vodka for liquor. I don’t recommend buying the cheapest one. After all, you will be making a drink for yourself! I consider Five Lakes to be a worthy choice both in terms of price and quality.

The cooking process

Many of my friends believe that in order to make alcohol at home, a moonshine still is required. It’s not like that at all! For example, to make my milk-coffee liqueur, all you need is a regular saucepan.

And the process itself is elementary. I first pour the condensed milk into a saucepan, dilute it with water. Then I fall asleep vanillin and coffee. I put on a slow fire, bring to a boil, cool. I add vodka, mix and send the pan for 12 hours in the refrigerator.

The process of preparing milk-coffee liqueur – could not resist, so as not to treat yourself to a small portion, cooked in a Turk literally at once.

The preparation of the liqueur itself takes no more than 20 minutes. After it is infused in the cold, I pour it into a beautiful bottle and wait for the guests to taste it!

The longer the liquor is cooled, the more saturated it will turn out. If time permits, I advise you to keep the coffee-milk mixture in the refrigerator for as long as possible. Preferably a day, no less.

What result did I get

When I made this milk-coffee liqueur for the first time, I was very surprised by the result. To be honest, it is in no way inferior to expensive store exhibits.

Soft, pleasant color. Reminiscent of brewed coffee, diluted with milk. The aroma is inviting, the duet of vanillin and coffee is chosen very harmoniously. Vodka adds spice to the drink, but is not strongly felt. Personally, I did not feel the characteristic alcohol aftertaste.

Treat friends. And I managed to surprise them! I received reviews that my liquor is like coffee with expensive cognac and milk. Which is quite equivalent to men’s drinks.

It will be interesting to read the opinion of men – do you drink liquor or also live in the belief that this is a purely feminine drink? And for those who have not yet decided on the answer, I recommend trying my recipe and be sure to share your feedback!
