What is the treatment of the bowel in pregnancy?
Hello, I am currently in the fourth month of pregnancy and I go to work all the time, I feel good and I do not have any major pregnancy problems. There has been a bowel disease epidemic recently in my work and I’m afraid I have caught it too. So I have a question about how to heal intestine during pregnancy? I used some anti-diarrheal medications normally, but I don’t know if they are intestinal drugs can be used during pregnancy? Will I possibly be able to take any rehydration products and gut electrolytes while pregnant?
Normally it helped me a lot, but I don’t know if it is ways to get the bowel in pregnancy they will definitely be advisable. I know that many drugs are not recommended during pregnancy, and I would prefer not to take anything that is bad for my health and that of my baby. Is there any in this connection home remedies for intestines during pregnancy would be more advisable for me? And another question – now I know that I should avoid sick people, but if the infection has already occurred, is it dangerous to enter the intestine during pregnancy? Can a pregnant bowel pose a threat to my baby’s health?
The doctor advises on how to proceed during pregnancy
Madam, diarrhea in pregnancy in general, it is not dangerous for the pregnant woman and the child. This is due to the fact that viral infections and dietary mistakes are among the most common causes. On the other hand, more severe diarrhea, accompanied by vomiting, fever, drop in blood pressure or ion disturbances may pose a threat to health and even life.
The so-called “bowel” most often we call a few days of diarrhea, which is not accompanied by other disturbing symptoms. Treatment is based, first of all, on appropriate hydration of the body. Please note that water alone may not be sufficient. Many electrolytes, including chlorine, potassium and magnesium, are lost during profuse diarrhea. Their significant deficiency may endanger health. Particularly dangerous is what is known as hypokalemia, which is low blood potassium, which can lead to abnormal heart rhythms. That is why it is so important to replenish water with electrolytes. They can be purchased at a pharmacy and are available without a prescription.
As for anti-diarrheal medications, their use is generally not recommended. If absolutely necessary, women in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy may take loperamide, its use in the first trimester is not recommended. Of course, please also remember about a proper, easily digestible diet. Often, during diarrhea or vomiting, patients do not want to eat, which is a big mistake. If your diarrhea does not subside within a few days or you notice that you feel weaker and dehydrated, see a doctor urgently. In this situation, hospital treatment may be necessary.
