To heal stomach pain after eating, it is important to understand what caused it. The most common are:

  • binge eating
  • eating salty, fried, spicy and smoked foods
  • chronic gastritis or gastroduodenitis
  • peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum
  • pancreatitis or cholecystitis
  • cancers such as stomach cancer

You should not immediately sound the alarm when only pain appears. Symptoms of serious illness are usually not limited to her alone. With gastritis and gastroduodenitis, pain is most often accompanied by heartburn, belching, which has an unpleasant odor, and nausea. With a peptic ulcer, vomiting and flatulence may be added to the listed symptoms. In addition, the pain in this case is very intense and often radiates to the back. In the most severe case – with stomach cancer – the pain that occurs after eating does not subside for a long time. The abdomen can become distended, which is very conspicuous, especially when the body is exhausted. Vomit often contains blood impurities. If you experience warning symptoms, do not try to self-medicate. It is better to contact a gastroenterologist who will conduct an examination and, based on its results, diagnose and prescribe adequate treatment.

In most cases, medication can help treat stomach pain after eating. Suspensions “Almagel” and “Fosfalugel”, as well as tablets “Maalox”, “No-shpa” and “Gastal” help well. However, sometimes you can do without taking medication. If the pain is due to overeating or a violation of the diet, you can cure it with complete rest by lying down for 20 minutes after eating. After rest, it makes sense to take a short walk so that bile does not stagnate in the body and the digestion process does not slow down.

Sometimes folk remedies help to cope with pain in the stomach. The most affordable and easy to prepare is chamomile infusion. You can prepare it by brewing a teaspoon of chopped herbs in a glass of boiling water. Having cooled and filtered, you should drink the infusion in the amount of 100 ml. As a rule, this is enough for the pain in the stomach to ease or even disappear altogether.

The so-called moist heat can help relieve stomach pain. After moistening a piece of cloth in warm water, you should apply it to your stomach for 15-30 minutes, then wrap yourself in a warm blanket. If the pain does not disappear during this time or, even worse, intensifies or moves to another part of the abdomen, it is worth calling a doctor to rule out serious diseases that require urgent surgical intervention (for example, appendicitis).
