How to transport an injured victim?

Transport a conscious victim

The victim is able to walk but is weak or has pain: the human crutch

Stand next to the victim, look in the same direction as her, and support her by putting her arm behind your neck and holding her hand. Put your other arm around her waist and help her move.

The victim cannot move on her own but she has a good level of consciousness: the speed bump

Squat down with your back to the victim and put their arms around your shoulders and their legs around your pelvis. Support his legs with your arms (below his knees). Get up and carry it.

Attention, do not transport in this way:

  • A victim with a fracture
  • A victim too heavy for you
  • If you have back pain or are pregnant

If you are two rescuers: the chair

Make a seat with all four of your hands. Sit the victim on your hands and tell them to put their arms around your shoulders.

Transport an unconscious victim

The victim must absolutely be moved because of a near danger and you are alone

Put your arms under the victim’s shoulders and grab their wrists. Rest his back and head on your chest. Pull the victim in this way, gently, letting his heels slide on the floor.

You have help to transport the victim

The first person supports the victim in the same way as when they have no help.

The second person grabs the victim below the knees, passing their arms outward from their legs and keeping their backs to the victim. Lift the victim up and move them.
