How to take care of your skin before and after a workout

Physical activity is pleasant and beneficial, including for the skin: fitness classes improve blood circulation, give the face freshness and a blush. For those who are already going to the gym – our article.

Pre-Workout Skin Care

Step 1 Cleansing

Makeup, as well as accumulated sebum and dirt from the day, mixes with sweat during exercise and can lead to clogged pores, inflammation and acne. Therefore, dermatologists advise to cleanse the skin of the face before physical exertion. In not too comfortable conditions of the fitness room, micellar water or wet wipes are suitable for this.

The microparticles (micelles) contained in the micellar solution attract oil, dirt and makeup residues. After removing them, you need to wash with water.

  • Owners of sensitive skin should pay attention to micellar water with an appropriate mark and micellar gels without fragrance.
  • For those who have oily and problematic skin, it is better to choose water with zinc and / or salicylic acid, they will remove excess sebum.

If there is no place and no time to wash, wet cleansing wipes will help out. Applied on a non-woven base, the surfactant serum will dissolve foundation and other makeup, while its pH regulators, antioxidants, emollients and hydrators will soothe and refresh the skin.

Step 2. Moisturizing

Applying moisturizer after cleansing should become a conditioned reflex, and fitness training is no exception. To avoid clogged pores, go to the gym with fast-absorbing products with a light texture and without oils, such as hyaluronic acid. A mist or thermal water applied before the cream will help enhance the effect.

Step 3 UV protection

If you plan on exercising outdoors, don’t forget sunscreen. Spread a lightweight, oil-free, waterproof product over all exposed parts of the body. For a short warm-up in the shade, a broad-spectrum sunscreen (protects against UVA and UVB rays) with SPF 30 is suitable.

Post-Workout Skin Care

Step 1. Cleansing Again

During physical exertion, not only sweat is actively released, but also sebum, so after exercise you need to wash. In order not to injure the skin, choose gentle formulas. Again, micellar water and wet wipes come in handy. Extracts of rose, chamomile, aloe vera in the composition will help get rid of redness.

Step 2. Moisturize again

After repeating the first step, repeat the second one to avoid dry skin. This may be the same remedy that you used before training:

  • light cream without oils;
  • fluid with hyaluronic acid;
  • mattifying gel.

Moisturizing formulas will fill the skin with moisture. Active physical activity opens pores and speeds up metabolic processes, so it’s time to feed the skin with vitamins and beneficial extracts.

Step 3. Tone

A busy day ahead and you need to look your best? After moisturizing, apply a BB or CC cream with SPF: it evens out the tone, hides minor imperfections, and protects from sun exposure.

BB or CC cream is a great alternative to foundation, which can be too heavy after a particularly hard session at the gym.
