Heat in Poland. Beware of high temperature
Weather forecasters predict that it will be getting hotter in the coming days. During the weekend, thermometers will show in the shade from 30 to 34 degrees C in the shade all over the country. It is possible that in the western part of Poland even up to 35 degrees C. You need to prepare for such weather.
– Generally, it must be said that the heat is no joke. Of course, for young and healthy people, summer is a time of relaxation, vacation and activity. The elderly and chronically ill should be especially careful. During hot weather, we advise them not to go out in the sun, especially in the afternoon hours, said Prof. Paweł Ptaszyński from the Central Teaching Hospital of the Medical University of Łódź.
He also appealed for giving up sweet carbonated drinks at such a temperature. Such drinks do not quench your thirst and do not keep your body hydrated. – You have to drink water and it’s about a liter more than usual. The norm should be three liters, and even a little over. Additionally, it should be spread evenly throughout the day. Remember that the water should not be icy. It is best at a temperature slightly lower than the room temperature. Sometimes, however, even a drink of warm tea is refreshing – pointed out the cardiologist. As he added, for people struggling with heart failure, the fluid balance is very important.
As for active people, they should go to training in the morning or evening hours. We should also protect ourselves from the heat at home. – Let’s use curtains and blinds. However, let’s also take care of adequate ventilation on the other hand. When we need to do something in the garden or at home – let’s do it either very early in the morning or in the evening. Let’s not dig or bathe in the garden at noon. For many people, the heat is more dangerous than it seems – said prof. Ptaszyński.

Heat in Poland. Stay safe on the water
Hot weather attracts crowds of sunbathers to the water. However, as lifeguard Radosław Wiśniewski from the Masurian Volunteer Rescue Service warns, you can drown anytime and anywhere, even in shallow, seemingly well-known to us reservoirs. – The only sensible place to swim is where there is a qualified, trained lifeguard who can not only notice someone drowning, but also expertly pull him out of the water and help him. – Wiśniewski said in an interview with PAP.
He emphasized unequivocally that when resting by any water, parents should absolutely be with children up to the age of 7. – Hundreds of times we look for children who are lost to their parents, because mum or dad just looked at the phone or talked to someone – he noted. It also debunks the myth that parents can quickly find their children by sight. – Nothing could be more wrong. The beaches are full of children in pink or blue bathing suits. They look the same from a distance, there is no need to delude yourself – he added.
Sunburn is very painful. An agent that accelerates healing and relieves pain is, among others panthenol. You will find it in foam form at Medonet Market.
The lifeguard also urges us not to jump headlong into the water in unexplored, unknown places. – Under water, there may be remains of the old deck that cannot be seen, stones, it may be too shallow to make such a jump. A poorly made head jump is very often associated with a spinal cord rupture and a two- or four-legged paralysis – she emphasizes.
He also reminded you to prepare your body for a drop in temperature before entering the water on hot days. – You have to remember about thermal shock. When we sunbathe, we are completely warm, so before we dive into the water, you need to cool down slowly. First, the head, armpits, chest – where there are large blood vessels. It should be a while. Otherwise, due to a sudden change in temperature, we may lose consciousness in the water, faint – he warns, because it can be fatal.
