Getting ready for winter: you can’t go anywhere, it’s already here!
Khiyir Abdulkerimov, MD, DSc, Professor, Head of the Department of Otolaryngology, Ural State Medical Academy, Chief Freelance Otolaryngology Specialist of the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk Region, Chief Otolaryngologist of the Ural Federal District:
– In order not to get sick, you need to dress for the weather. Choose clothes not according to fashion, but according to your own feelings. Wear a hat! The third point – do not get your feet wet. Flora and bacteria live in us and are opportunistic. They become pathogenic in a stressful situation with colds: wet feet, frozen head. If you get your feet wet, go home urgently – dry and drink hot tea. It did not help – contact a specialist, do not go to work, do not infect others. At work, ventilate the room more often, wear masks. Eat right: plenty of fruits and vegetables, plenty of protein. Onions and garlic will help during an epidemic, but you can eat them just like that, as a preventive measure.
Keep your feet and head warm to avoid getting sick!
It is better to savor chocolate after eating in small wedges.
Elena Vetchanina, Ph.D. in Psychology, employee of the Medical Center of Dr. Gavrilov:
– The body switches to another energy supply system twice a year. Before winter, our metabolic processes slow down to conserve energy to keep the body warm. This is genetically inherent, and there is nothing we can do about it. Many animals, including humans, gain weight by winter. To prevent this from happening, it is imperative to include food in the winter diet that warms up, but does not allow you to gain weight. Soups are considered ideal – they are hot, nutritious, low in calories and high in protein. You can eat them both at lunch and dinner. Another rule of winter food is that food should be beautiful, bright: yellow, red, green. Therefore, vegetable salads are suitable. It is necessary to add meat products (lean meat, fish). Warming teas are also ideal for winter – for example, ginger, which also speeds up the metabolism. Water in cold weather should not be drunk cold, but warm, closer to hot. Not in one gulp, but in small sips. Get yourself a thermos mug, pour hot water with ginger and lemon there every morning and drink small sips all day. At the same time, the total amount of fluid consumed decreases: if in summer it is 40 ml for each kilogram of body, then in winter 30 ml is enough. If in the cold season you want to improve your mood, be careful with sweets. Better to walk more and breathe fresh air. If you still want chocolate, then choose a bitter one, divided into 5 gram slices. And eat it only after you eat!
If winter is only negative for you, change your country or your idea of winter!
Marina Berezina, family psychologist, gestalt therapist:
– To keep a good mood in the long Russian winter, it is worth answering the question: “What does winter bring with it for me?” If the answers are only negative, you should change your thinking to a more positive one or change the country. There are simple but very effective recommendations for the winter period. It is important to take care of your physical condition: think about new hobbies – skiing, skating, snowboarding, swimming. Celebrate every day brightly and energetically. Also, do not forget that the city has many theaters, museums and cinemas, music concerts. The publication helps to make new acquaintances, to please yourself with impressions and knowledge.
On every sunny day, you should go for a walk in nature, in the park, or just leave the office at lunchtime and walk. And the table in the office should be rearranged to the window.
You should not go on a diet in the first frosts and especially cold days, since at this time there is enough stress for the body and psyche. It’s great if you can alternate between bathing and showering. Lying in a bubble bath and aromatic oils is important for soothing and relaxing. Choose aromatic oils with the “smell of summer” – juniper, citrus, fir. The shower helps to get rid of the negative energy accumulated during the day, the jet strengthens the spine, the effect of massage is possible. Bring bright colors into your life – bright clothes, indoor flowers, paintings, photos of summer experiences.
And most importantly, communicate with friends and family. Give care and warmth to each other. The winter period is rich in holidays, enjoy everyone, invent and organize fun events.
The main thing is not to wash your face with snow, it injures your skin!
Marina Berdnik, cosmetologist at the Medical Center of Dr. Gavrilov:
– In the summer, we moisturize the skin from overdrying, in the winter it needs to be protected from cold and snow. And also humidify, because at home and in our offices we have hot batteries that create a dry microclimate. Winter care will look like this: morning and evening – washing according to skin type and toning. After the tonic, apply the cream to the skin. In the morning – this is a denser, so-called night cream, it will create a protective film from frost, snow, rain. It can be mixed with 1/1 foundation, then you will not get a puff cake on the face, but a beautiful protective film will form. Never use baby cream! Made for baby butts, it contains glycerin, petroleum jelly, clogs pores and can cause inflammation, irritation and acne.
On winter evenings, apply a moisturizer to clean skin. The pores are open and the skin will absorb the water it lacks due to the batteries. In winter, you can do restorative procedures: exfoliating peels, superficial, medium. You can also carry out restorative lifting, microcurrent therapy, massage with masks. And, of course, injection procedures – biorevitalization, bioreparation. You can also make masks at home. For example, a mask based on lemon juice diluted with boiled water 1/1. Apply it to cotton pads and place on cleansed face. This will be a homemade chemical peel. You can also make a sour cream brightening mask or a hot-water oatmeal scrub.
Many people think that washing with snow is beneficial. It is a myth. First, our snow is very dirty. Secondly, snowflakes are polygons that traumatize the skin. If you want to wake up in the morning, iced green tea cubes work well. They can be used in the morning instead of a tonic.
