How to survive a flight and get rid of acclimatization

We are sure that by taking our body to exotic resorts, we provide it with the best possible rest, but this is not always the case.

Doctors are sure that a long trip is a serious stress for the body. But an absolutely healthy person copes with such stress instantly, but if there are at least some disruptions in the body, he will have to work hard to adapt to the new living conditions.

What the body doesn’t like on a long trip:

– change of time zones – the biological rhythm of the body gets lost;

– change of climatic zones – a sharp drop in temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure weakens the immune system;

– change of food – a sharp blow to the gastrointestinal tract;

– a long stay in the hot sun – immunity falls.

It has been checked: the more time and climatic zones a traveler has to cross, the harder and longer acclimatization will take. And the faster the movement takes place, the harder it is for the body. For example, a Muscovite will feel at ease faster on the shores of Turkey than on the Canary Islands. It is also noticed that, moving in the direction of the east, it is more difficult to acclimatize than when traveling to the west. For example, a Muscovite will need a week to recover in China, and a Far Easterner, having got to the Baltic States, will cope with acclimatization in three days.

Preparing for the trip

– Soberly assess the state of your health. The risk group includes people with psychoemotional disorders, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, heart disease, hypertension, those over 45 years old, and children. In this category of citizens, chronic diseases may worsen during travel.

– It is worth consulting a doctor, he will tell you which climatic zone to choose.

– If you have a flight lasting more than 4 hours, or you have problems with blood vessels and veins, be sure to consult a doctor. From a long immobile sitting in the veins of the legs, a blood clot can appear, which sometimes moves through the bloodstream into the lungs, from which pulmonary embolism is formed, and this is a very serious condition. If necessary, your doctor will recommend that you take an anticoagulant before your flight, which dilutes the blood and prevents blood clots.

– You need to leave for another country for at least two weeks. Otherwise, the body will not only not have time to rest, but, on the contrary, will spend its last strength. Once in new conditions, he will adapt to them for 2–5 days, and then immediately undergo new stress – returning home.

– Start drinking the adaptogen a week before your trip. Best of all, a tincture containing echinacea: strengthens the immune system. If you feel lethargic, tinctures or decoctions of eleutherococcus, lemongrass, ginseng are suitable. If there is a feeling of overexertion, tinctures of motherwort, valerian, peony, hawthorn will soothe.

– Match the flight of the plane so that you will arrive at night – it will make it easier to get used to the new regime.

Relaxing at the resort

– In the first two days, get more rest in the truest sense of the word. Get a good night’s sleep. Do not rush around sightseeing, do not lie on the beach all day. The result can be a sharp decrease in immunity: at best, herpes on the lips, at worst – a serious cold, sleep disturbance, palpitations, apathy.

– Don’t pounce on exotic delicacies. Eat your usual food for the first days. Otherwise, you may become a victim of traveler’s diarrhea.

– Do not chase after the number of visited places – you will get tired so that you will have to be treated for weakness and depression at home.

Come to our senses

– Reaclimatization in the native place can be more difficult than acclimatization. Its most common symptoms are chills, runny nose, sore throat, fever, weakness and even depression. Therefore, do not run from the plane to work. Relax for three days from a hectic vacation in a calm atmosphere – at home or in the country. But these days, do not swim in lakes or rivers: you can catch a cold from the temperature drop.

– Do not gorge on fried potatoes with bacon on the first day. Return to your normal diet gradually, through cereals, boiled meat, fish, kefir.

– You can take an adaptogen, vitamin C, rosehip or cranberry broth or syrup again for a week.

– A contrast shower is required.

– At night it is good to take baths with soothing herbs: mint, linden.
