You don’t need to go to a nudist or naturist beach to sunbathe naked. There are more and more lovers and lovers of exposed skin to the sun. And although the “call for freedom” we feel then may be liberating, topless sunbathing is not necessarily the healthiest idea. Why? About this for MedTvoiLokony says the dermatologist, MD. What is the risk of topless tanning?
– The appearance of a tan is actually a defensive reaction of our body. Therefore, we cannot operate with the term “healthy tan”. Exposure to the sun’s rays, usually of hidden parts of the body, means multiplied and intensified harmful effects of the sun on our skin – indicates the drug. Who shouldn’t sunbathe naked?
Although anyone who exposes the exposed body to the sun for too long and carelessly is at risk, for some people the risk of unpleasant ailments and poor prognosis is much greater.
– I would recommend extreme caution, and preferably complete abandonment of this type of practice in the case of people at increased risk of developing skin cancer. This includes people with fair complexion who, due to their skin phototype (I or II), have very little or no tan and are prone to redness and burns when exposed to sunlight, as well as people with numerous moles, freckles or birthmarks on their skin, especially large ones, with irregular shape or uneven color, and those whose family members fell ill with skin cancer – lists the dermatologist.
If you sunbathe naked, do it safely
If, nevertheless, we decide to sunbathe without covering, we should remember a few rules. The most important thing is to protect the skin in places that are usually covered, i.e. the breasts and intimate areas, because it is extremely delicate, sensitive, prone to burns, loss of elasticity and drying out.
– These areas undoubtedly require special treatment and adequate, well-chosen and thoughtful care. This also applies to sunscreen. – Before a planned vacation trip, you can also consider implementing supplementation, incl. beta-carotene, vitamins C and E, omega-3 fatty acids. In this regard, it is always worth reaching for the advice of a specialist – points out the expert.
The dermatologist reminds you about one more important habit. – We should also remember about the need to systematically inspect our body, preferably assisted by a loved one, in the context of newly formed skin lesions and control of already existing moles. Nude tanning people should pay special attention to this. Our anxiety should always arouse, among others, changes in the shape, color, size of moles, redness, pain, bleeding, the appearance of other discharge. In such situations, we go to the doctor without exception. In addition, each of us should at least once a year (and if we sunbathe – even more often), preferably in the autumn and winter period, undergo dermatoscopy – an examination performed by a dermatologist, which enables the diagnosis of skin lesions of various origins – explains the drug. It is also worth remembering that it is dangerous not only to be exposed to UV radiation outdoors, but also in closed rooms. Although solariums are not as popular as they used to be, they still have their supporters and supporters.
– While sunbathing on a public beach or in any other public place, we usually maintain a common-sense approach and do not strip naked, because our aspirations effectively inhibit, apart from concern for health reasons, also certain accepted social norms. However, we no longer have this type of dilemma when deciding to get a tan in a solarium. And in this case, we must always remember about adequate protection and protection of the delicate skin of the breast and intimate areas.
