How to stretch shrunken clothes

Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for clothes, especially made of wool or other natural material, to suddenly change their size to an unpleasantly smaller size after washing. Shrinkage of clothes after “water procedures” is proportional to the presence of natural threads in it: the more there are, the smaller the thing can become. But there is no reason for despair. You can try to return the item to its original size.

Wool, cotton, flax, rayon, and mixed fibers are best recovered. Silk is difficult to return to its former size, but you can try.

First, soak the clothes in cool water for 10 − 20 minutes so that it absorbs more water. After washing the thing in the washing machine, pour in the container a special powder for delicate washing or woolen things. Put the program of careful washing, determine the temperature (no more than 30 degrees) and turn it on! During the spin, the item is likely to begin to stretch.

Remove the clothes from the washing machine, gently stretch it with your hands to the required size and hang it on a high-quality hanger with hangers. Please note that after washing the fabric is not wet, but it is wet.

Drying the clothes should only be upright! If you spread the thing horizontally, the material will sit down even more. In the process of drying the thing must be shaken from time to time. By the way, sometimes (for example, in the case of sweaters or sweaters) it helps to dry a wet thing right on itself. It is unpleasant, of course, but this is how clothes will increase.

Another way to restore the sown things, first of all knitted, is to rinse in cool water with the addition of hydrogen peroxide. For ten liters of water you will need two tablespoons of peroxide.

Instead of hydrogen peroxide, you can make a mixture of six tablespoons of ammonia, two tablespoons of vodka and two tablespoons of turpentine. Dissolve the mixture in the same ten liters of water. Rinsing clothes in this solution, from time to time, pull them in the right directions. After that, you must leave the thing in this liquid for an hour and a half, and then lightly squeeze and dry in the apartment on a towel, stretching every hour.

If the dress or shirt is not very tight, then you should try to put it on wet gauze on the ironing board and walk with an iron (with the steam function on) over the entire surface of the clothes, pressing hard. You can also put wetted gauze or cotton cloth on top of the sat down thing. In addition, in the case of clothes that are not too reduced, rinsing in water with a teaspoon of vinegar helps. In this way, you can stretch not only clothes, but also, for example, hats (mainly caps and hats) and bedspreads.

But the surest way to keep your clothing size intact is to read the laundry tags. They are on every thing, we just do not always pay attention to them – sometimes in vain.
