How to store garlic: important tricks
It is not recommended to store garlic on the balcony, in the closet or in the freezer. Under the influence of unfavorable conditions, it begins to deteriorate quickly, becomes lethargic and tasteless. The vitamins it is rich in are also lost.
For garlic to be stored for a long time, it is important to harvest it correctly. The best time for this is clear weather without rain. Set aside for agricultural work in the morning or evening hours when the sun is not too bright. Leave the cut vegetable in the fresh air for a short time to dry it out.
Don’t forget to cut the roots and stems. Use a regular knife to remove the latter. Experts recommend leaving the tail 1,5-2 cm long.
Try to figure out in detail how to save the heads. Choose a dry and cool place for the vegetable. The best temperature is 4-5 degrees. Do not put the heads in the refrigerator: if they freeze, they will lose all their useful properties and the lion’s share of taste.

Wreath. This method has been used since ancient times. Pluck the garlic along with the grass and then braid them. Hang the resulting wreath on a nail in your closet or under the floor. It will be constantly ventilated, and therefore it will be well preserved.
Nylon tights. This method is useful for hostesses who are far from field work. Take old unnecessary stockings and put carefully dried heads in them. Hang the resulting structure in a dry and cool place.
Flour. Place the dried garlic in a glass jar, sprinkle with layers of flour. It should be about 2 cm taller than the vegetable.
Glass jars. Fold the dried vegetable into a glass container (pre-sterilized) and roll up the lid.
