How to store tea at home
All of these teas, with the exception of pu-erh, are stored for 1–2 years. This variety can be kept in the closet for about 3 years. After the specified time, the teas lose their taste. Then they get rid of them.
Tea has long been a traditional drink for all Russians. There are many aromatic teas on store shelves. Some people gather around the table to have a couple of cups of tea with sweets and to talk about life. To prepare this drink, you need high-quality raw materials that will give it a unique taste. Thus, the question of how to store tea becomes relevant. You should know what negatively affects its properties.
How to store tea properly: rules
To create blanks, the stems, leaves and flowers of thyme are collected. They are dried on a warm summer day, spreading the grass in the shade. The process must follow all the rules.
- Choose a convenient spot to dry your thyme. Keep it in a well-ventilated area.
- Be puzzled in advance by finding a large piece of thick fabric, tin sheet or tray on which you will spread the raw materials.
- Lay the paper on the prepared surface, and then spread the parts of the plant over it, leveling everything with your hands.
- Cover this with a gauze cloth, otherwise small insects, dirt and dust will then appear in the grass, which will be difficult to reach.
- Leave the thyme there for a period of 3 to 5 days at a temperature not exceeding + 35 ° C so that the essential oils do not evaporate from it.
Also, avoid storing tea in containers made of low-quality materials: polyethylene, paper or cardboard. Such packaging can affect the taste of the drink.
Where and how much tea of different types are stored?
Different types of tea are stored under different conditions. Each of them has its own expiration date. It all depends on the degree of fermentation – the process of fermentation of its leaves. The larger it is, the longer it is stored. We list the common types of teas and containers in which it is better to contain them:
- In bags. It is brewed when you do not want to deal with cooking a sheet. This tea is left in its original packaging.
- Black. This type is transferred to a metal box with a lid or a container made of dark plastic.
- Green. This tea can be stored in a thick cardboard box. It is also kept in a ceramic jar.
- Pu-erh. It belongs to the sorts of tea, pressed into sticks. They are placed in a special wrapper.
