Not every housewife has the opportunity to go out to buy fresh meat every time, so we often buy meat “for a week”, or even longer. How to store meat correctly so that it does not lose its beneficial properties and taste? First of all, consider the fact that meat that is prepared for storage is never washed. Cold storage:
- If your refrigerator keeps the temperature inside from +5 to + 7C – meat can be in it no more than 10 hours;
- At temperatures from 0 to + 5C – no more than a day;
- At temperatures from -4 to 0С, the meat will not lose quality up to two days of storage.
Freezer storage:
- At temperatures from -12 to -8C – store meat for no more than 4 months;
- At temperatures from -18 to -12C – up to 8 months;
- At temperatures from -24 to -18C – up to 12 months.
Note that this data applies to whole poultry and lumpy meat. For portioned pieces and minced meat, the terms are halved.
