How to store cheese properly

Cheese is considered a living product, the bacteria living in it are constantly developing, and therefore you need to store it wisely. If you store the cheese incorrectly, it will dry out and deteriorate in taste and appearance. These rules will help you save cheese.

  • Keep the cheese wrapped in parchment. He doesn’t breathe in a plastic bag. Each cheese should be stored separately so as not to give off its own flavor or absorb the other.
  • Store cheese in the refrigerator at 6-8 degrees. Extreme cold kills the cheese, too high temperatures spoil it.
  • If you need to store cheese indoors without a fridge or basement, wrap it in a linen napkin dipped in salted water and store it in a dark place.
  • Cut as much cheese as you eat. The cut pieces dry quickly and are not stored.
  • Don’t cut the rind – it retains the flavor and protects the cheese.
  • Don’t buy a lot of cheese in reserve – it will go bad. Do not be too lazy to once again go to the store for a new piece of fragrant cheese.
  • Open soft cheeses are stored for 3 days, hard ones – 7-10. Processed cheeses are stored for no more than 2 days, after which the cheeses lose their taste and benefits.
