How to spend a vacation with benefits for the brain

Studies show that vacations are not only pleasant, but also beneficial for the body: regular travel reduces the risk of heart attacks and increases life expectancy. And while a bad trip can be a source of stress, a well-spent vacation can benefit the brain, make life more meaningful and provide pleasant memories.

Here are 12 tips to help you get the most out of your vacation.

1. Plan ahead

It’s not the trip itself that brings the most pleasure, but the anticipation and planning. On the other hand, some people experience increased stress during the week leading up to their vacation due to the extra stress at work and at home.

To avoid this, start planning your trip well in advance. Try to find a time during your holidays when you don’t have to worry about work or family matters, and plan your budget to avoid financial worries.

Trying to work remotely while on vacation will only create additional stress. 10. When you get home, take another day off.
