I recently wrote about which foods and drinks speed up metabolism, and today I will supplement this list with small clarifications:
Drink before meals
Two glasses of clean water before each meal will help you lose those extra pounds, and maintaining the correct water balance in the body will increase energy and performance.
Move
Have you heard about the thermogenesis of daily activity (Non-exercise activity thermogenesis, NEAT)? Research shows NEAT can help you burn an additional 350 calories per day. For example, a person weighing 80 kilograms burns 72 kilocalories per hour at rest and 129 kilocalories while standing. Moving around the office increases the number of calories burned to 143 per hour. During the day, take every chance to move: go up and down the stairs, walk while talking on the phone, and just get out of your chair once an hour.
Eat sauerkraut
Pickled vegetables and other fermented foods contain healthy bacteria called probiotics. They help women fight excess weight much more effectively. But probiotics do not have such an effect on the male body.
Don’t starve yourself
Prolonged hunger provokes overeating. If the break between lunch and dinner is too long, then a small snack in the middle of the day will correct the situation and help the metabolism. Avoid Processed or Unhealthy Foods! It is better to choose fresh vegetables, nuts, berries for snacks, read more about healthy snacks at this link.
Eat slowly
Although this does not directly affect metabolism, swallowing food quickly, as a rule, leads to overeating. It takes 20 minutes for the hormone cholecystokinin (CCK), an antidepressant that is responsible for satiety and appetite, to tell the brain that it’s time to stop eating. In addition, fast food absorption raises insulin levels, which is associated with fat storage.
And in this short video, Lena Shifrina, founder of Bio Food Lab, and I share why short-term diets don’t work.
