How to soothe the skin of the face

The skin dries, flakes, red spots appear on it – and so all year round? Frost is to blame for this in winter, vitamin deficiency in spring, and heat and dust in summer. But seasonal factors are often just an excuse, and the real cause of irritation is something else.

Causes of skin irritation

Sensitive, constantly irritated skin causes a lot of inconvenience – do not expose it to the sun, hide it from the wind, buy special cosmetics for care. And how much time and money will have to be spent before you find foundation that will mask redness and peeling – and at the same time will not increase irritation.

Irritable skin loses its protective qualities, begins to absorb nutrients worse, loses its ability to self-heal. The problems get worse over the years. The best thing you can do for her is to find the cause of the increased reactivity and choose the right care.

There are many reasons for skin irritation – from chronic stress to problems with the gastrointestinal tract, endocrine system, and immunity. If irritation is constantly bothering, you will have to visit a dermatologist, therapist, endocrinologist and, possibly, a psychologist.

What can cause an acute skin reaction?

Stress

The skin is sensitive to chronic lack of sleep, problems in the family and at work. The production of stress hormones increases, and they, in turn, increase the activity of an enzyme that destroys hyaluronic acid and cells that break down collagen.

Unbalanced nutrition

The skin becomes sensitive with a lack of nutrients – vitamins and minerals, in particular, vitamins A, C, E. If you drink little liquid, smoke, abuse alcohol, this also does not affect the skin in the best way. She also does not like spicy, spicy, smoked, fatty dishes.

A healthy diet, enough fiber and vitamins help to make the skin less “irritable”.

Insufficient or improper care

Are you sure that you know exactly what type of skin you have and choose products designed for it? Perhaps the reason for the increased sensitivity of the skin is a new concealer. But you don’t know about it, because every day you use at least five beauty products. Or maybe, on the contrary, you think: the less, the better, and you don’t even have a moisturizer in your arsenal. Such minimalism is also not to the liking of the skin.

If you have sensitive skin, it is not recommended:

  • use scrubs with hard abrasive particles, products with ethyl alcohol, essential oils, soap;

  • wash with cold or hot water;

  • make hot compresses;

  • use ice cubes as a tonic;

  • wash with hard washcloths.

Soap, washcloths, even a rough towel with irritated skin will have to be put aside. But natural silk is what you need.

Rules for the care of sensitive skin prone to irritation

“The skin can become sensitive for no apparent reason, and after a while, just as suddenly return to normal,” says Elena Eliseeva. – It happens that she reacts to some external stimulus. But be that as it may, with proper care, even very reactive skin can be soothed and made more tolerant.

How to take care of her?

  1. Clean gently

    Choose soft products without abrasive particles, do not use peels with a high concentration of acids – they will not help, but rather harm. The best choice is gels and tonics with thermal water in the composition. They can be used for both makeup removal and exfoliation.

  2. Moisturize well

    You need a hypoallergenic cream for sensitive skin. Look for moisturizing ingredients (hyaluronic acid, chitosan) in its composition. And of course – substances that restore the hydrolipidic film: allantoin, bisabolol, ceramides.

  3. Eat properly

    Once a week, make masks that contain arginine, argireline, seaweed. “And most importantly, choose a good nourishing cream,” says La Roche-Posay expert Alexander Prokofiev. – These can be products with thermal water, neurosensin, which soothes the skin, and squalane – this substance softens and restores the hydrolipidic barrier. Additional but no less important ingredients in products for reactive skin are shea butter, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E.

  4. Less “nervous”

    Avoid exposure to hot sun, frost, dusty and polluted environments. Worry less and worry about trifles. And never try a new cosmetic product on the eve of an important event – the reaction of the skin can be unpredictable.
