Materials and equipment you will need to sew the tulle

Sewing tulle is easy if you know some simple tricks. It is important to cut and sew the stitches correctly. If you have a sewing machine and basic knowledge, then you will certainly do it.

In order for a light curtain to decorate the window, you need to choose the right material and additional elements.

When choosing a fabric, the following parameters are taken into account:

  • how transparent it should be;
  • the surface is preferably flat or patterned;

Sewing material for tulle:

  • chiffon;

How to sew tulle correctly: step by step instructions

Calculate the width before purchasing the material. Usually they take the size of the cornice and multiply by two. If the fabric is dense, then you can take 1,5 widths. The length of the curtain tape should be strictly equal to the width of the tulle.

Step-by-step instructions on how to sew tulle beautifully:

  • process the sidewalls with a double hem. First, sew about 7 mm straight from the edge, then fold it so that the line falls on the fold, and then go over it again with the typewriter. Regularly adjust the material so that the seam does not go to the side and the fabric does not twist;
  • sew on the curtain tape. Its edges need not be processed. Attach the tape to the top of the tulle and sew as many strings as there are drawstrings and one securing bottom seam. For lightweight curtains, usually take with one or two. Make sure that the line does not overlap the tightening;
  • try on the curtain to the cornice and cut the bottom to the desired length;
  • process the bottom of the curtain. The fold is made more than from the sides, about 1-1,5 cm. First, fold and stitch once, then wrap and stitch again;
  • the last stage is ironing. A lightweight fabric is used for tulle, so you need to iron it very quickly and accurately. But at the same time, try not to use hot steam, the material can come from it in waves.

Now hang the tulle. After that, tighten the laces on the ribbon and spread the curtain in waves.
