How to sew a tunic with your own hands

You don’t need to be a first-class dressmaker to sew the simplest model of a tunic. Only 6 simple operations should be performed:

  1. Take a piece of fabric, fold it in half with the wrong side up. Put your T-shirt on top and circle it around the edges with chalk.
  2. Add to the contour of the T-shirt 5 cm at the bottom and sides.
  3. Mark a neckline 25–30 cm wide in the middle.
  4. Pin off the edges.
  5. Cut out along the contour. This will turn out 2 parts, since the fabric was folded in half.
  6. Sew on the sides of the edges on the machine to the width of the foot. Then fold over by 1,5 cm and sew the edges of the neckline, sleeves and hem.

In this way, you can make a model up to mid-thigh, to the knee, to mid-calf. To do this, you need to measure your height with a centimeter in advance and mark the desired length on the fabric from the bottom of the T-shirt.

Sewing a tunic for pregnant women is easy!

The robe that falls in beautiful folds is very suitable for future mothers. It can be done in 20 minutes. This will require 2 m of fabric. It is necessary to model the future dress on the woman for whom the product is intended. The order of work is as follows:

  • Put a piece of fabric on the shoulders, like a scarf, ends first. Straighten to the figure. To make the product fit nicely and comfortably, it is recommended to sew a tunic from jersey knitwear.
  • Cut holes for the hands – about 12 cm on each side.
  • Remove the fabric, sew the converging edges in front on a typewriter.
  • Tuck in 1 cm and sew holes for hands on a typewriter.
  • Trim the hem to the desired length. Sew the bottom edge on a typewriter.

The hem does not need to be trimmed. The result will be a fashionable asymmetry – in the front it is shorter, in the back it is longer. The model looks especially impressive when worn with a belt.

How to make a tunic from 2 scarves

Lightweight, semi-fitted clothing is a great option for warmer seasons. Summer models are sewn from chiffon, cotton, linen or silk. For wearing on weekdays, you can sew a tunic with your own hands without a pattern. Here’s how to make an original piece out of 2 summer scarves:

  • Take 2 handkerchiefs at least 1 m in size diagonally, attach to you. Pin the fabric at the shoulders.
  • Remove the workpiece from yourself, sew shoulder fragments on a typewriter. You can connect them by sewing on decorative buttons or buckles.
  • Sew the scarves on the sides. The length of the seams determines the type of tunic. To make a closed model, you need to sew the entire distance from the armpit to the hips. For a free version, 10 cm are sewn from chest to waist on each side.

A perfect addition to a scarf product is a leather belt or a colored drawstring belt.

Charming semi-fitted blouses and dresses are also created from thin blankets, stoles, scarves. A homemade tunic can be embroidered with sequins, beads, supplemented with an applique made of leather or fabric in a contrasting color.
