How to save on groceries and eat well: tips

😉 Hello dear readers! Let’s talk about how to save money on food. It is possible, and you will eat just as well.

In the courtyard there is an economic crisis, salaries are being cut, prices in stores are going up. How to gain an extra penny in such a situation? The largest item of expenditure in the family budget is the grocery basket.

This is understandable: if the majority of citizens wear clothes for more than one season, then you can buy them from time to time (by the way, you can look into a second-hand, it’s not a shame). And without food a person cannot, and trips to grocery stores are the main type of evening “leisure”.

How to save on food

A city dweller en route work → home meets several points where you can buy bread, milk or dumplings. But there are still many things to do at home, so the preference is given to the store that is closer to home, where you can choose the most essential.

Hence the first principle of saving on products – it is optimal to buy them on weekends. Or shift this responsibility to those family members who do not work. Then there will be an opportunity to more carefully and slowly approach the choice.

But this is not the main thing. Often we go to the store with a list of what to buy from the products (which have already run out).

We propose to go the other way and start from the assortment with a discount offered by the chain stores of the economy segment.

Such hypermarkets as “Magnit”, “Pyaterochka”, “Dixie”, “Olivier” and others are constantly reducing prices for a number of products and household chemicals. We propose to go there.

This approach will require the allocation of part of the budget for the purchase of products and goods. Which are not relevant today, but you will need it in the near future. Do not be lazy to reserve the amount from your salary, because this approach will fully pay for itself!

How to calculate the reserve? Only by experience. It depends on the needs, the number of households and your taste preferences.

In order not to be unfounded, we will consider with a specific example how much you can save in percentage (and rubles). Let’s take the prices for the most popular products in the Olivier store (Moscow).

The total savings amounted to RUB 654. This is if you buy meat products for 1 kg. If you purchase several packages, the amount of benefit will be even greater. You can put the meat in the freezer. Tea and coffee will quietly wait for their turn on the shelf in the kitchen cabinet, and a spare pack of washing powder in the bathroom.

This approach has another plus – you will not find yourself in a situation where, waking up in the morning, you find that your coffee is over. And a cup of your favorite drink is a must!

Tips: how to save your family budget

  • in supermarkets, do not forget about “customer traps”;
  • cook yourself. Semi-finished products are convenient for quick preparation, but their cost differs significantly from the cost of products that you buy separately. For example, you can cook cutlets yourself by making minced meat at home. The transition to higher quality food has a beneficial effect not only on the state of your body, but also on your wallet;
  • buy whole chicken, not parts. Then you can cook soup from the wings and back, and the rest will go to pilaf or another dish. There are many options;
  • To save on meat dishes, do not cook meat in separate pieces (for example, chops), but combine the meat with a side dish in one dish. For example, cutlets, pilaf, beef stroganoff, lazy cabbage rolls. Everyone will be satisfied;
  • you can replace smoked sausage with homemade boiled pork. Cheaper, tastier and healthier;
  • for a side dish, use inexpensive cereals: pearl barley, wheat, millet;
