How to save a crop from powdery mildew and other ailments
Too much rainfall in mid to late summer is a boon for most plant diseases. I would not like to lose everything that has been raised, nurtured and cherished since early spring.
To germinate, plant, weed, water, fertilize, take care of in every possible way – and then give the fruits of your labor to the August ailments? No, really. If you immediately determine what the plant is sick with, then you can choose the right drug for processing and win the battle for the harvest. And how to do it, says the expert of “Antenna-Telesem”, agronomist Dmitry Lukyanov.
Mučnistaâ rosa
It spreads upwards from the ground, begins with a white coating on the leaves, which over time becomes denser, becomes gray or brown and becomes covered with black dots. The leaves dry up. Affected shoots are underdeveloped, bent, buds and flowers are covered with bloom and die, fruits fall off. It is an aggressive but unstable disease. Two or three treatments will help get rid of it.
What to do: pollinate the plant with colloidal sulfur or spray it with a strong solution of laundry soap or infusion of wood ash (diluted 1:10 in water).
Downy Mildew
Lightning sickness in three days can destroy the crop of courgettes and cucumbers. It begins with the appearance of yellowish spots on the leaves, and after a day or two, spots of powdery plaque appear on the underside of the leaf – a sign that the plant can no longer be saved. Roses and bulbous plants are more likely to suffer.
What to do: to spray sick and neighboring healthy plants with copper-containing preparations – copper sulfate, Bordeaux liquid, Topaz, Vectra, Ridomil Gold.
Spotting
Their characteristic feature is the markings on the leaves, varied in color and shape, often with a dark rim. The disease causes premature aging of the green part of the plant, they color like autumn ones and fall off. Roses suffer very much from black spot – the fungal disease spreads quickly in rainy weather, affecting all new bushes.
What to do: process the plants as soon as a day without rain comes out. Do well with black spot “Skor”, “Abiga-peak”, “Pure color”. They take effect within two hours.
Rot
The leaves become soft, loose. Then the base of the stem, roots, rhizomes and bulbs suffer.
What to do: remove diseased cultures. Treat the remaining plantings with a solution of trace elements and plant growth stimulants (Epin, Zircon) to improve their immunity. Do not fertilize with nitrogen fertilizers, including manure.
