It is much wiser to prevent color loss during washing than to restore it later. Follow the recommendations on the garment label for the optimal wash cycle and temperature limits. Purchase a special powder for black fabric – it will not only help maintain the existing shade, but also make the thing brighter. While rinsing, you can add a pinch of salt and a tablespoon of baking soda to the water. These substances will help freshen up the black color.
How to return black color to clothes
If the clothes have already lost their shade after washing, you will have to resort to other measures.
The following tools will help restore the black color of faded things:
- special dyes
- tobacco
- vinegar
Take 15 grams of tobacco, pour a liter of boiled water, let it brew, and then strain. Wipe the washed and dried items with a sponge dipped in a solution.
To restore black color, regular cigarette tobacco is suitable.
Vinegar is another thing that can bring back the brightness to the black color, fix the paint and prevent further washout. Add three to four tablespoons of vinegar to cold water, dip the previously washed item there and leave for 20-30 minutes. After this time, wring out the garment, rinse thoroughly in cold water and leave to dry in a well-ventilated area to eliminate unpleasant odors.
If you have black items in your wardrobe that tend to shed, you can use them to restore the color of your washed clothes. Soak them together in warm water without adding detergent, then place them in the washing machine and wash with detergent. Rinse black clothes in cold water and hang them up to dry. You will see that the things that have lost their color have become brighter.
While rinsing, you can add two tablespoons of vinegar to the water. The result will last longer
There are special dyes that can restore faded blacks, and many of them can be used at home. Purchase a black dye that matches the type of fabric the garment is made of and apply it according to the instructions (for most preparations, this means washing in hot water with dye added). In this way, you can return the black color to faded black things, and not just faded ones. If the clothes are made of delicate fabrics and after processing with paint, according to the instructions, may lose their appearance, it is better to contact a dry cleaner.
