How to restore skin after the sea

We tell you what you need to do to bring your skin back to life after a vacation, especially if you overdid it with a tan or forgot to apply sunscreen on time.

Skin condition after a sea holiday

The condition of the skin after the holidays depends on where and how you spent your vacation. If you have protected yourself from the sun, followed the rules of safe tanning, moisturized your skin and generally behaved, then your face looks really rested. But it happens that instead of freshness appear:
  • redness;

  • swelling and roughness;

  • fine wrinkles and dryness.

If this is your case, then you overdo the tan and get what you deserve: dehydration, hyperkeratosis, and inflammation due to photodamage. There is nothing to do – it is necessary to restore the skin hastily. Dermatologist, brand expert Vichy Elena Eliseeva offers the following skin rescue program:

  1. increase the moisture level of the epidermis;

  2. restore the barrier functions of the skin;

  3. replenish antioxidant resources.

When you get home, inspect your beauty arsenal and complete it with skin-healing products. Let’s talk about them in more detail.

Three skin care products

Moisturizing Serum

“If the skin is very dry from the sun, it is necessary to quickly normalize the water balance of the tissues,” says Elena Eliseeva.

Concentrates based on hydrofixators will cope with this task – special ingredients that, on the one hand, fill the cells with moisture, and on the other, do not allow it to evaporate.

  • Daily Serum Gel Mineral 89, Vichy strengthens the barrier functions of the skin, moisturizes it due to hyaluronic acid, which attracts and retains water.

  • Serum concentrate, intensively moisturizing the skin, Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate, Kiehl’s contains glycerin, which protects against dehydration, and perilla leaf extract, which has an antioxidant effect.

Moisturizing Mask

If the skin looks like parchment, or has survived a sunburn, complete the care with a moisturizing mask.

“During the first week after the holiday, the mask can be used every day, and then applied 2-3 times a week to consolidate the result,” recommends Elena Eliseeva.

It is desirable that the mask contains both moisturizing and skin-soothing ingredients.

  • Moisturizing + Comfort sheet mask, Garnier with chamomile and hyaluronic acid soothes and moisturizes the skin.

  • Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydrating Mask, Kiehl’s has a pleasant cooling effect and relieves irritation thanks to the extract of calendula petals.

Cosmetics with antioxidants

“Prolonged insolation undermines the protective resources of the skin, therefore, both during the holidays and after it, use products with antioxidants – anything will do, from vitamin E and green tea to centella asiatica and resveratrol,” advises Elena Eliseeva.

The only caveat is to beware of vitamin C in high concentrations, as it provokes skin photosensitivity.

  • Botanic cream with green tea “Basic care”, Garnier Fights the negative effects of free radicals.

  • Night cream and mask for skin oxygenation Slow Age, Vichy contains baicalin and vegetable resveratrol.
