There are three upgrade options.

· Coating with acrylic (or glass). The method is suitable for any type: acrylic, steel or cast iron bath. A special composition – liquid acrylic (or more shock and moisture-resistant glass) – is poured onto a previously cleaned surface. The material fills in all the irregularities and hardens in a smooth, pleasant smooth surface without roughness, cracks, and even hides factory irregularities and defects.

· Purchase an acrylic liner. An old acrylic or metal bathtub can be made cozy and beautiful with a special acrylic insert. In shape, it completely follows the contours of the bath, and when installed, you, in fact, get a completely new bathing place inside.

· Painting. Painting or enameling is an inexpensive way to renovate a cast iron or metal bath. Before painting, the old coating must be removed with a special machine, cleaned and applied with a coloring composition.

As you can see, it is not at all necessary to arrange a pogrom in the bathroom with reinstallation and purchase of a new bathtub. Putting the old in order is much faster and more economical.

How to refurbish a cast iron bathtub

Cast iron bathtubs are durable and almost “immortal”. They withstand both bombing and earthquakes as well as prolonged exposure to chlorinated tap water, shampoos and scrubs. Unfortunately, time leaves its mark on their appearance. Replacing a cast iron bathtub is also a test of strength for all familiar men, as it is insanely heavy. It is easier to restore such a bath, and it will serve even your children and grandchildren.

To update an obsolete coating, acrylic (pouring a special composition) or installing an acrylic liner is suitable. However, painting is also a good option. To do this, you need to choose a special paint (ordinary enamel is not just not suitable, it can lead to consequences that will be difficult to cope with). The next step is cleaning from dirt and degreasing. After that, you need to remove the old coating (preferably completely, otherwise roughness may appear) and apply a special compound.

As you can see, your bathtub with modern restoration methods can become completely new. The main thing is to choose the update option that appeals to you.
