Restarting the machine is needed if the program crashes or the light turns off in the apartment. Therefore, you need to know how to restart the washing machine correctly and without harm to it.
How correct is a reboot and does it provoke a breakdown? This question worries many owners of washing machines.
Reasons for a reboot
Important! Please note that in this material the concept of “reboot” will only mean restarting the CMA program (washing mode).
So, you have to reboot the machine for a number of reasons:
- If an object that fell out of the pocket got inside (or a button came off, a bead fell off). To avoid damage to the cuff and blockage of the drain system, stop the machine immediately and restart the program.
- If you need to report forgotten linen.
- If you need to change the mode.
- If the program hangs. The machine does not respond to user commands (pressing buttons), does not erase or spin. If this is not a breakdown, then a reboot will help.
- It is not uncommon to have to restart the SMA due to a power outage. Many modern models have an automatic restart in such a case, but in some, a manual restart is indispensable.
How to restart the machine: a quick guide
Before restarting the washing machine, take a look at the symbols and buttons on the control unit. Find the RESET button to restart the program. If there is no button, press the key that starts the wash mode.
Important! Do not confuse the mode start button with the CMA shutdown button!
Before pressing the buttons, take a look at the user manual – some models of washing machines reboot in their own way.
Restarting the washing machine is as follows:
- Hold down the program start button for 3-5 seconds.
- Wait until the wash is over – some machines will drain the water first before stopping.
- Choose another mode.
- If necessary, fill the cuvette with powder or other detergent.
- Press the “START” button.
If you need to access the drum during washing to add or set aside laundry, then you must drain the water before restarting (in front-loading machines). Find out how to reset the machine if you need to report or ship excess laundry:
- Stop the machine by holding the program start button for a few seconds.
- Drain the water in any way convenient for you: through the emergency hose (located near the water drain filter) or the drain filter.
- Condition for a successful and fast draining of the water: start the spin cycle with the “No spin” function selected in advance. The washing machine will drain all the water in 2 minutes, finish the cycle, unlock the hatch.
If you decide to drain the water yourself, then turn off the washer by pressing the “ON” button, and then remove the plug from the outlet. Within 5 or 10 minutes, the sunroof will release the lock. Remove or add items and continue washing.
Attention! Do not pull out the plug from the socket without turning off the machine. This will lead to blocking, provoke breakdowns and malfunctions in the operation of the control unit – such a repair will cost a penny.
If the electricity is out
When the power is suddenly turned off, the first thing to do is to disconnect the SMA from the mains. It is necessary to remove the cord so that the washer does not suffer from a sudden voltage drop.
Plug the machine into the mains when power is restored. If the program is not reset in auto mode, then the machine will continue washing itself.
Sometimes this does not happen, the machine turns on, drains the water and stops washing. In this case, the reboot is only to re-enable the desired mode.
Internal failure
Thinking about how to restart the washing machine if the software crashes? First, understand that this is a software problem, not a mechanical problem. In the first case, the control panel is blocked, and the buttons do not respond to pressing. Try disconnecting the CM from the mains so that the control unit reboots.
Important! Don’t restart too often. Especially if the failure is accompanied by an error code on the display or a combination of flashing lights. Perhaps your typewriter needs a repair, not a reboot.
As you can see, restarting is a simple task. With our instructions, you will not have any questions. The video will also help you restart the washing machine:
