How to replace the hose in the dishwasher

The inlet and drain hoses for the dishwasher allow you to efficiently operate the equipment. Thanks to them, water is normally poured into the hopper, and then drained at the end of the wash. But if their length is not enough to connect or a leak occurs, problems begin. We will tell you how to properly position, lengthen and replace the hose in the dishwasher.

Preparing PMM for repair

The type of water supply hose depends on the dishwasher model (Bosch, Electrolux, Hansa, Beko). When buying equipment, it is included in the kit, it is connected to a hot or cold water supply and passes water into the chamber. Depending on the type of connection, the product can be designed for operating temperatures up to 25°C or up to 70°C.

There are such types:

  • Rubber standard.
  • Reinforced. The rubber base is additionally reinforced with metal or nylon.
  • Rubber with protection against leaks “Aquastop”.

The inlet hose must have a technical passport or marking, which contains the following data:

  • Operating pressure. For installation in an apartment – 20 Bar, for a private house the allowable pressure is 5-10% more.
  • Length. The product must not be connected with great tension or bending. This results in a shorter service life. Therefore, before buying, find out the distance from the sink to the dishwasher.

As for the drain hose for the dishwasher, it is made of polypropylene. Make sure that the diameter of the fittings for connection matches the outlet of the pipe or siphon.

  • The maximum length of the standard version is from 1 to 5 meters.
  • The telescopic version will eliminate the need for elongation, since the corrugated structure can be stretched. The inner surface is also uneven, so it is subject to frequent blockages.

Prepare the necessary tools and parts, and only then proceed with the installation.

You will need:

  • screwdriver;
  • passages;
  • brass tee;
  • filter;
  • fum tape;
  • clamps.

Next, you need to lengthen or install a new element for the dishwasher.

How to install correctly

If the Siemens, Ariston dishwasher has problems with the intake or discharge of water, the hoses are checked first. If they leak, a complete replacement is required. It is not recommended to repair and seal damage – this is unreliable and will lead to a serious leak over time.

Prepare your dishwasher. Remove the built-in appliances “Electrolux”, “Ariston”, “Bosch” from the niche. Shut off the water supply and disconnect from the mains. Most often, the filling element is connected at the back to the bottom of the housing:

  • Unscrew the fastening nut from the PMM body.
  • Disconnect the other end from the water supply.

To properly connect to the water supply, screw a brass tee with a shut-off valve onto the pipe outlet. Connect the sink mixer to one outlet of the tee, and the flow filter and the end of the inlet hose to the other. The connecting parts are sealed with fum-tape.

In some models of dishwashers, the connection is inside the body.

  • Flip the body over to the back.
  • Remove the bottom bar.
  • Unscrew the bolts and remove the pallet.
  • The end of the hose is attached to the filling valve.
  • Using the open end wrench, unscrew the old device and plug in the new one.

If you need to shorten the length, we do not recommend doing it yourself. It is better to go to the store and purchase an item of the right size.

To increase the length, you will need a special clutch. It is better to choose not a plastic, but a brass coupling. Connect it to the main hose, and put an extension cord on the other end. Connect the device to the water supply and you’re done.

Experts do not recommend lengthening, as this increases the risk of leakage.

How to replace the drain hose? First you need to check for what reasons it stopped performing its function. Maybe it’s a blockage and it’s enough to clean it. It can be connected in different places: bottom right or left, top. To clean or change an element, do this:

  • Unfasten the plastic clips using wire cutters.
  • Turn the equipment on its side.
  • Loosen the screws and remove the bottom tray. In the Bosch or Burning models, a float sensor is attached to it. Therefore, first disconnect the wiring chip and remove the sensor.
  • Loosen the clamp and remove the end from the seat in the circulation pump assembly. Be careful, water may spill out of it.
  • Remove check valve and install in pump.
  • Disconnect the back wall of the equipment.
  • Pull out the grommet that holds the hose.
  • Replace with a new element or extend with a coupler. Do not forget to strengthen the connection points with clamps.

Perhaps replacement is not needed, just clean the inlet. To do this, use a small brush and strong water pressure.

Now you can handle the replacement and lengthening of dishwasher hoses yourself. This video will help you:
