Replacing the drain hose in a washing machine is a bit tricky. We will show you step by step how you can remove, change or clean the hose in any brand of CMA.
Some users think that replacing it is similar to the inlet hose. However, it is not. The water intake hose is attached to the washer body, while the drain hose, in addition, is located next to the pump.
When to replace the drain hose
The drain hose serves to drain waste water, therefore it is attached to the drain pump, next to the nozzle. It is made of polypropylene, so it can withstand water at different temperatures, and also remains resistant to chemicals.
Why does he need a replacement?
- Invalid item. Often, when buying a washing machine, you get a hose in the kit. However, during installation, it may be short. Of course, you can lengthen the element, but this increases the risk of water leakage.
- Mechanical damage. Replacing the drain hose of the washing machine may be necessary in case of a fracture, leakage. It is recommended to replace the part immediately.
- The hose is clogged with debris, scale so much that it needs to be replaced.
Right choice of
Before replacing the drain hose, a suitable replacement must be selected. You have three options:
- Standard option. This is a classic, according to which the length of the part is from one to five meters. This is enough to connect the washing machine.
- telescopic option. The name speaks for itself: a compressed hose measuring 0,5 meters stretches to a length of 1,5 meters. In addition to the advantages in the form of mobility, there are also disadvantages. When stretched, large corrugated folds are formed, which vibrate strongly during operation.
- Boiled variant. Collapsible type, consists of modules measuring 50-55 centimeters. Convenient because you can adjust the length.

Self-replacement of the drain hose

First you need to prepare the car, for this:
- Disconnect the SM from the network.
- Shut off the inlet water supply valve.
- Prepare a container to collect water.
- Unscrew the inlet hose from the body and drain the water.
- Remove the manhole cover – at the bottom of the front wall.
- Prepare a container, unscrew the filter and drain the water.
- Move the CM away from the wall.

The most convenient models for repair. You do not need to disassemble the washer and remove the panels. Enough to get to the bottom of the car.
How to do it:
- Tilt the car back to gain access to the bottom.
- Loosen the screws securing the drain pump.
- After taking out the part, loosen the clamp that secures the hose to the pump.
- Disconnect the other end of the hose on the body, and pull it out.
- Install a new part by clamping it with a clamp on the pump.
- Connect the other end to the case.
- Set the washer in place.

On these models, you will need to remove the front cover. Proceed in sequence:
- Pull out the dispenser tray. To do this, press the central lock and pull it towards you.
- Unscrew the screws securing the control panel.
- Release the latches around the perimeter with a flathead screwdriver.
- Lay the panel on top of the washer.
- Remove the bottom cover.
- Open the hatch, pull the rubber and remove the clamp.
- Insert the sealing rubber inside the drum.
- With your hand behind the body, disconnect the hatch lock wires.
- Unscrew the bolts holding the front panel, remove it.

- Remove the hose clamp to the pump.
- Remember how the element is attached to the body.
- Disconnect and take out.
- The replacement hose is installed in the reverse order. Fasten immediately to the pump, and then to the body.
Check the strength of the fasteners.
CMA Electrolux and Zanussi
Here you will need to remove the back panel. The process is easier and faster than in the previous case. Get to work:
- Remove the screws as above and lift the top cover.
- Unscrew the bolts located around the perimeter of the rear wall. If they are covered with plugs, remove them with a flathead screwdriver.
- Leaving the panel aside, find the pump below.
- Unclench the hose clamp with pliers, disconnect it.
- Disconnect it from the body.
- Install the new part in reverse order.
Eat! You can test the machine by running the wash.
Top-loading CM models
