How to replace the bearing on the Ariston washing machine with your own hands

When you notice the noise and rumble in the washing machine, the bearing has already begun to wear out. Repair in this case is necessary, and it is desirable to carry it out as soon as possible. Untimely replacement of the bearing in the Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine entails damage to the shaft and other parts of the SMA.

We will tell you how to disassemble the car yourself, change broken parts and restore the previous performance.

How to determine the damage

It is believed that the service life of bearings is estimated at 6-10 years. However, there are situations that accelerate wear. The loss of elasticity and tightness of the stuffing box leads to water entering the bearing, washing out the lubricant.

If you often overload the CMA drum with laundry, then be aware that you will shorten the life of the bearing.

Factory marriage is the minimum percentage of all breakdowns.

The louder the noise and the stronger the vibration during spinning, the greater the wear. If you turn the drum by hand, and it will rotate non-uniformly, it means that the parts are almost worn out.

The same applies to the appearance of backlash. Rock the drum back and forth. If it strongly departs from the tank, this is the backlash, which indicates the need for repair.

Let’s figure out how to independently replace the drum bearing in the Ariston washing machine.

Preparation for repair

Gather the tools that will come in handy for the job:

  • screwdrivers (flat, cross);
  • a hammer;
  • bit;
  • passages;
  • nippers;
  • puller (if any);
  • socket wrenches;
  • WD-40 tool;
  • glue, sealant.

You will also need new seals and bearings to replace. These two parts must be changed at the same time, even if one of them is less worn. This is economically viable, because if you don’t do this, after a while you will be repairing the machine again.

You can find out how much a bearing for an Ariston washing machine costs in any online store. You can select new items by brand and model of the washer. Look at the markings on old bearings if the inscriptions are clearly visible.

Now get ready for the car. Disconnect it from the network. Look around if there is enough space for work and complete disassembly of the CM. It might be better to move to the garage.

Prepare a container to collect water. Close the inlet valve and disconnect the intake hose from the housing. Drain water from it.

Then approach the front wall of the CM. Below you will see a small hatch on the latches. Remove the lid, substitute a container and unscrew the drain filter. After draining the water, proceed to the next steps.

Phased execution of work

We will tell you how to change the bearing in the Ariston washing machine. The disassembly of the CM will be identical for Hotpoint Ariston Aqualtis, Hotpoint Ariston ARSL 105, Ariston Margarita 2000 and other models.

Covers and panels

Take a Phillips screwdriver. Walk around the washer by standing against the back wall. Remove the two screws on top that secure the top cover. Then slide it forward and remove it from the case.

Proceed to the back panel. Unscrew the screws around the perimeter, set the cover aside. At the same time, remove the drive belt – scrolling the pulley by hand, pull it towards you.

Control panel

Go to the front of the washer. Pull out the detergent dispenser: pull the tray towards you by pressing the lock in the center; take it out and put it aside. Behind it are a few bolts, 1-2 more bolts on the opposite side of the panel. Unscrew them, unfasten the plastic latches.

Now the panel is held only by wires – you can throw it on top of the case. But if you decide to disconnect, it is better to immediately take a picture of the location of the connectors for proper connection.

Top part

It is necessary to remove from the top of the tank everything that could prevent it from being pulled out. This:

  • Powder receiver. Loosen the clamp on the pipe leading from the hopper to the tank. Remove the tube. Disconnect the contacts of the inlet valve and unscrew the fastening screws. Remove the valve together with the powder receiver.
  • Counterweight. Unscrew the bolts securing the upper counterweight and remove it.
  • Pressure switch. Disconnect the pressure switch hose that is attached to the tank, otherwise it may break during dismantling.

Front Panel

Open the hatch door. Bending the sealing rubber, pry off its clamp with a screwdriver and pull it out of place.

Unfasten the hatch lock wiring (UBL) by running your hand behind the body. First unscrew the two mounting bolts.

If you are afraid of damaging the glass of the door, we advise you to immediately remove it. To do this, unscrew the screws that secure the hinges of the door, set it aside.

It remains to unscrew the screws around the perimeter of the front panel and remove it. Now unscrew the lower counterweight bolts to remove it.

Rear part

Disconnect the wiring from the electric motor at the bottom of the tank. Remove the bolts (three to four), move the engine forward first, then pull back and remove from the housing.

Disconnect the heater wiring. The heater itself does not need to be dismantled. If you damage its sealing rubber, you will have to completely change everything.

Also, if wiring is attached around the perimeter of the tank, bite the clamps with wire cutters and move the wires to the side.

Shock absorbers

The tank is fixed only on shock absorbers and hanging hooks. Unscrew the shock absorber screws, remove the tank from the hooks and pull out the tank.

You have dismantled the washing machine. Now we need to get to the bearings.

Self replacement

Lay the tank on a flat surface.

Immediately you need to remove the pulley – take a wooden plank and lock the pulley wheel so that it does not rotate. Use the key to unscrew the bolt in the center; if it doesn’t work, spray it with WD-40.

After the pulley has been removed, proceed to disassemble the tank. Unscrew the bolts around its perimeter, release the latches and remove the top.

To separate the tank from the drum, you need to hit the sleeve several times, after which the drum will fall out.

Now let’s figure out how to replace the bearing on the Ariston washing machine.

You need to start with the outer bearing. Before removing it, turn the half of the tank upside down. Set the chisel on the outer race of the part and hit it with a hammer several times.

Important! You need to hit evenly on the outer clip. If you damage and knock out the inner part, then the outer ring will then be difficult or impossible to remove.

If you have a puller, use it. The inner bearing is also removed.

Prepare your seat. After spraying it with WD-40, wait for the dirt to soak, clean and lubricate.

Install the new part in the slot. Now attach the bolt to its outer race and, evenly tapping with a hammer, drive the bearing into place.

Install a lubricated oil seal on top.

Before installing the drum, be sure to clean the sleeve from rust and scale. For better tightness, apply sealant to the edges of the tank, fasten them with bolts. Assemble the car in reverse order.
