How to replace the bearing in the Atlant washing machine with your own hands

Is your Atlant washing machine noisy, buzzing and rattling? Does the sound at high speeds sound like the rumble of an airplane during takeoff? This indicates wear on the drum bearing.

The bearing can withstand heavy loads, so it wears out over time or under the influence of external factors. We will tell you how to remove and replace the bearing in SMA Atlant yourself. Follow our recommendations and you will be fine.

Symptoms of a problem

How to determine the failure of the bearing at home? The first and main symptom is increased noise during the operation of the washer. Also, if you shake the drum with your hand, you will notice a backlash – the drum moves up from the tank. And if you twist it by hand, it rotates unevenly.

At the first sign of a malfunction, you should immediately start replacing the bearing in the Atlant washing machine. This is a breakdown that requires immediate repair.

Why is it dangerous to delay the repair of bearings? When they are erased, the cross of the drum suffers, and the tank can be damaged from the uneven oscillation of the latter. As a result, repairs will cost many times more.

Preparatory work before repairing the Atlant machine

What tool will you need:

  • screwdrivers: straight, slotted;
  • wrenches: end wrenches 12-19 mm;
  • chisel, hammer;
  • WD-40 tool;
  • replaceable bearings, as well as oil seals – buy according to the brand and model of SM;
  • grease;
  • sealant.

Unplug the washing machine. Turn off the water and prepare a container for draining. Having unscrewed the inlet hose from the SM body, drain the remaining water, do the same with the drain filter. It is located behind the hatch, at the bottom of the front panel. Open the hatch and unscrew the filter.

Having moved the washer away from the wall so that it is convenient to move around, get to work.

The procedure for performing work in the Atlant washing machine

Bearing replacement is done by hand. The task is facilitated by the fact that in these machines the tank is removed through the top, so you do not have to remove the front cover.

  • Open the hatch door.
  • Use a slotted screwdriver to pry off the sealing rubber clamp and remove it.
  • Wrap the cuff inside the drum.
  • Unscrew the top panel by unscrewing the two screws on the back.
  • Remove the bar at the top by unscrewing the bolts.
  • Unscrew the bolts fixing the upper counterweight of the tank. Take it aside.
  • Pull out the dispenser tray by pressing the latch in the center and pulling towards you.
  • Using a screwdriver, unscrew the screws that secure the control panel.
  • Mark with a marker or photograph the location of the wiring leading to the panel.
  • Unplug all connectors and disconnect wiring.
  • Disconnect the pressure switch. To do this, remove the wires leading to it, then release the latches or unscrew the screws. Remove the device from the tank.
  • Remove the powder receptacle along with the intake valve. Remove the bolt on the rear panel, disconnect the pipes from the receiver and set aside.
  • It’s time to remove the back panel. Unscrew the screws around the perimeter, set the cover aside.
  • Pull the drive belt towards you and remove it from the pulley.
  • Disconnect the wiring from the heater (heater) and the electric motor.
  • Using socket wrenches, unscrew the bolts that hold the motor. They can be from three to four pieces.
  • Swinging the motor back and forth, remove it from the housing.
  • Use wire cutters to bite the wiring clips that are attached around the perimeter of the tank. Move her aside.
  • Laying the car on its side, get to the drain pipe.
  • Release its clamp and remove from the tank.
  • Now unscrew the shock absorber bolts.

Now the tank hangs only on two springs from above. Remove the tank from the hooks and pull it out through the top of the case.

You are already close to getting and replacing the bearing in the Atlant washing machine.

Self-replacement bearing

Having laid the tank on a flat surface, proceed to disassembly – Atlanta has it collapsible, so you do not need to cut it.

Now you will learn how to change bearings correctly:

  • Unscrew the bolts of the front counterweight, remove it.
  • Pry off the inner collar of the cuff, remove it and the rubber so as not to stain it during disassembly.
  • Remove the screws holding the two halves of the tank. Remove the top.
  • Turn over the second part.
  • Remove the pulley. Try to unscrew the central bolt with a wrench – first fix the pulley so that it does not spin.
  • If the bolt does not give in, spray it with WD-40.

The drum is next. Tap the bushing gently with a hammer a few times and pull out the drum.

Using a chisel and hammer, knock out the inner and then the outer bearing. You need to hit carefully, evenly, only on the outer clip.

Clean the seat before replacing. You can apply WD-40 to get rid of any dirt.

Now you see which bearings are in the Atlant washing machine. If you have not purchased parts in advance, you can do this in the online store, indicating the make and model of the CMA.

Proceed with the installation:

  • Position the smaller bearing in the seat. To make it sit tightly in place, lightly tap the outer clip with a hammer.
  • Do the same with the big bearing.
  • Install the oil seal from above, lubricating it with grease.

You have completed the task. It remains to assemble the tank, and behind it the machine.

For reliability, lubricate the tank around the edges with sealant. Connect the halves, and then fasten with bolts.

You already know how to assemble the washer: all steps must be repeated in reverse order. Run the program and check the new parts.

As you can see, even a beginner can change the bearing. The main thing is care and safety. Follow the instructions and everything will work out. Video on the topic will help you:
