How to replace the bearing in a Zanussi washing machine with your own hands

Is the bearing worn out in your washing machine? Don’t know how to arrange repairs? Think about it, maybe you can replace the part with your own hands.

Replacing the drum bearing of a Zanussi washing machine is a difficult repair, because you will need to completely disassemble the CM. However, by following our step-by-step guide, you can do it yourself.

How to understand that a bearing is broken

The surest sign of a malfunction is the error codes E13 and E55 on the washer display. If the self-diagnosis system has detected problems and issued a code, you can proceed with disassembly and inspection.

But if there is no code, and every time you wash you hear a lot of noise, hum, vibration, rattle – all this also indicates wear on the bearings.

Additional check: open the manhole door and shake the drum by hand. If its rotations are non-uniform, it strongly deviates from the tank to the rear wall – there is a malfunction.

Causes of malfunction

Most often, bearings wear out due to water ingress. If the oil seal (sealing rubber) is damaged, water begins to seep, which leads to breakage. Also, an incorrectly installed CMA can cause imbalance, which also leads to wear.

In this case, the repair of the Zanussi washing machine is required, namely, the replacement of bearings.

Unscrupulous manufacturers can install an unsuitable element that cannot withstand the load of the machine. As a result, it serves no more than 4 years.

Part types

Let’s see what bearings are on the Zanussi washing machine. In modern models: Zanussi Aquacycle 1000, Zanussi FA 622, Zanussi FE 1002, Zanussi FL503, CN Zanussi ZWT 3105, Zanussi ZWT 385 and others – double-row and single-row elements are used.

  • Single-row elements are included with a smaller bearing and an oil seal.
  • The double row is installed with a retaining ring, it is one large part complete with an oil seal.

Replacing the bearing in the engine of the Zanussi washing machine can be done by hand. But it is better to do it in the early stages, as soon as you notice the noise. Otherwise, the wear of the part will damage the shaft, as a result, you will need to replace the drum part.

Preparation for repair

To successfully dismantle and then install the bearing, you need:

  • Screwdrivers: slotted, Phillips, hex.
  • Torx keys.
  • Pliers.
  • Set of wrenches.
  • Hammer and bolt (15-20 cm).
  • Adhesive or sealant.
  • WD-40 for sticky parts.

Time to prepare the washer. Disconnect it from the network, turn off the water supply. Disconnect the intake hose and drain the water from it. Also drain the remaining water from the drain filter, which is located at the bottom of the front panel, behind the hatch.

Sequence of work execution

Replacement parts should be purchased before disassembly. The bearing numbers of the Zanussi washing machine can be found by the CMA model or viewed on the element.

After moving the car away from the wall, proceed to disassembly. The first step is to remove the covers and panels:

  • Loosen the screws fixing the top panel. Take it off and set it aside.

Please note that some bolts in Zanussi washers are hidden by plugs..

  • Unlike other CMs, Zanussi machines have a two-piece body. To remove the back cover, you need to additionally unscrew the screws of the bracket that fastens the panels from above.
  • The lid is then pushed back and removed.

The advantage of this brand is that there is no need to dismantle the front panel.

Thanks to the design of the case, the back cover opens up most of it. This is quite enough for the repair.

  • Remove the drive belt. Pull it towards you by turning the pulley. So it comes off easier.
  • You need to unscrew the pulley. To do this, lock it in place with a ratchet and unscrew the central bolt.
  • Loosen the screws holding the counterweight over the pulley. Set him aside.
  • Take a picture of the location of the heating element wires. Take them off.
  • Also disconnect the motor wiring, unscrew the three fixing screws.
  • Pull the motor out of the housing.
  • Use pliers to open the clamp of the drain pipe, disconnect it from the tank.
  • Next, remove the shock absorbers. Put the head on the other side of the stem, pull it out with pliers from the front.
  • We move up. Remove the filler pipe by loosening the clamp.
  • Remove the pressure switch tube that leads to the tank.
  • Before replacing the bearings in the Zanussi washing machine, you need to remove the hatch cuff clamp. To do this, bend the sealing rubber, tighten the clamp and release the tie.

Amazing! It remains only to pull the tank out, removing it from the hangers.

  • Remove the screws along the edges of the tank that hold the two parts together.

  • Remove the top half.
  • Slight blows of the hammer on the shaft separate the tank from the drum.
  • Tidy up the drum shaft. Remove dirt, polish to a shine.
  • Flip the back of the tank over. Remove the seal. To remove the bearing, install a bolt on it and lightly tap with a hammer. This must be done evenly and only along the extreme rim, otherwise damage the part. The same rule applies during installation.

How to change the bearing in a Zanussi washing machine? First of all, clear the landing site.

Install the new part into the slot by tapping on the outer race.

Lubricate the seal and place over the bearing.

The car is assembled in reverse order. Before connecting the parts of the tank, grease them around the edges with sealant, then fasten them with bolts. This way you can avoid leaks.
