Many are gradually moving to Office 2013 and Windows 8, but some do not like the new application interface. One aspect of the interface that caused confusion, annoyance, and resentment was the decision to make all tab names on the Ribbon capitalized. Next, you’ll learn how to change tab titles in just a few easy steps.
Microsoft’s decision to capitalize the names of the Office Ribbon tabs seems a bit odd. The menu becomes unlike any other software, including Windows 8, even though the same Ribbon style is used throughout the operating system.
What a lot of people don’t know is that there is an option to rename the ribbon tab labels, and you can use that to change the capital letters to something more consistent with other apps.
You probably expect these steps to involve changing the case, but in fact, everything can be done with tools built into the Office toolkit. Right-click on the shortcut for one of the Ribbon tabs and select Customize the Ribbon (Setting the Ribbon).
On the right side of the dialog box Word Options (Word Options) right-click one of the tab names and choose an action Rename (Rename). Enter the name you like, then click OK once again OK.
You will find that tabs that have been renamed retain the case of the characters just entered.
Curiously, if you return the tab to its original name, then the character case will change back to ALL CAPITALS. What if you really want to leave the default tab names, but capitalize only the first letter?
The easiest way is to rename each tab by adding a space character at the end of the name. This approach forces Office to use a more familiar use of upper and lower case characters.
Unfortunately there is no way to adjust the character case for the tab Fillet (File), however, this simple tool helps to significantly change the look of Office.
