What indicates a bearing failure in an Electrolux typewriter

How to understand that the bearing is worn out without disassembling the machine? In good condition, the washer operates almost silently. The first signs of wear are noise and hum during operation. Each time the vibration and rattle will increase – and you will not hear anything but the hum of technology.

A characteristic symptom of a problem is the backlash of the drum. If you shake it with your hand, it noticeably moves up from the tank.

Bearing failure is a serious failure. However, replacing a part is much more profitable than buying a new car, so after studying the sequence, proceed with the action.

How to choose the right bearing for a washing machine? Remove the old part and take a sample to the store. The seller will select the necessary parts for you.

What tools will be needed

For self-repair you will need:

  • Screwdrivers (cross, flat).
  • Passatizhi.
  • The hammer is rubber.
  • Socket heads.
  • Bit.
  • Tool WD-40.
  • Sealant or sealant.

Gathered the necessary tools? Now unplug the machine from the mains, turn off the water supply tap. Disconnect the hoses going to the CM, drain the remaining water.

Before you change the bearing in the Electrolux machine, you need to move it away from the wall, providing a place to work.

Step-by-step repair of the Electrolux washing machine

Let’s make a reservation right away that such repairs are carried out in the same way for various Electrolux CMA models. Over time, the manufacturer can change the control panel, improve the electronics, but the internal design remains unchanged.

It is better to replace bearings in an Electrolux washing machine as soon as a malfunction has been noticed.

The peculiarities of the assembly of the Electrolux washing machine include an unusual case connection. It consists of a front and back piece, which are joined by a seam in the center of the side piece. Therefore, to access the tank, it will be enough to remove the rear half of the case.

  • Unscrew the bolts at the back, remove the top panel.
  • Unscrew the screws from the bottom of the back cover.
  • Unscrew the side screws of the panel, which are located at the bottom. Remove the plastic clips that cover the bolts.
  • Do the same on the opposite side.
  • Now unscrew the top mounting bolts.
  • Using a flat screwdriver, pry out the plastic latches of the valve that is attached to the back wall.
  • After removing the valve, disconnect the cover.

You have accessed the tank at the back of the car. Proceed to further disassembly – to remove the drum.

  • Remove the drive belt.
  • Disconnect the wire connectors from the heater (heater).
  • Release the plastic clamps to finally disconnect the wiring.
  • Disconnect the wires from the washing machine motor.
  • Having unscrewed the fixing bolts (usually 3-4 self-tapping screws), remove the motor from the housing.
  • Loosen the pressure chamber screw.
  • Unscrew the screw holding the drain pipe clamp.
  • Disconnect the tube.
  • Using pliers, pull out the shock absorber clips.

The bottom of the tank no longer holds anything. It remains to release the upper part.

  1. Loosen the clamp, disconnect the water supply pipe.
  2. Remove the fitting at the top front of the tank.
  3. Remove the rubber cuff of the hatch.
  4. Unfold the cuff, remove the clamp.
  5. After removing the tank springs, remove it from the SM housing.

After laying the tank on a flat surface, you need to remove the pulley.

  • Block the pulley against the tank.
  • Unscrew the central bolt.
  • Unscrew the bolts along the edge of the tank connecting the two halves.
  • Remove one half of the tank, set aside.
  • By pulling out the drum, you will have access to the bearing at the bottom.

If you find a large amount of scale on the walls of the tank, it must be removed. Then you need to pull out the bearing. Start with the oil seal by prying it out with a flathead screwdriver. To make it easier, use WD-40.

  • Putting the chisel on the bearing, knock it out by tapping it with a mallet.
  • Clean the socket with sandpaper, then wipe with a descaling agent.
  • Install a new bearing in the tank seat. To make it sit in place, gently tap the bolt with a hammer, which is evenly rearranged along the outer edge.

Be careful! Do not hit the inner race of the bearing. In this case, the balls inside are deformed, which will significantly reduce the life of the element.

Repeat the installation process from the inside of the tank.

  • Lubricate the inside of the seal.
  • Install the seal over the bearing. If it does not fully fit into the socket, evenly tap the edges with a rubber mallet.

Now it remains to put the drum in place and cover it with the second part of the tank. Before doing this, lubricate the seams of the tank with sealant for better adhesion and reliable sealing. Install the second part in place by screwing the bolts around the perimeter. Further assembly takes place in the reverse order.
