Before proceeding with the restoration of the jacket, thoroughly clean the dust from the clothing with a dry brush with soft bristles or a foam sponge. Rub the tarnished areas with a fresh slice of orange, lemon or grapefruit. You can use a cotton swab dipped in any citrus juice. Pay special attention to cuffs, pocket cuffs, collar, fastener strap – these are the details of the cut of clothing that wear out the most.

If you find stubborn dirt during dry cleaning, try removing it with a cotton rag and a mild detergent (shampoo, liquid soap, gel for wool) in water. Try to keep the rag not too wet and water should not flow from it. The optimum temperature of the cleaning liquid is 40 to 50 degrees.

If your leather jacket has companion fabric inlays, choose a cleaner for each part. Always read the care instructions on the lining label

Try removing stubborn stains with a cotton swab dipped in a mixture of soap, water, and a very small amount of ammonia or turpentine. Do not forget to test the product on a piece of leather or in an inconspicuous place! After removing the dirt, remove the contaminated soap from the jacket with a sponge, moistening it in clean water as often as possible. Dry your clothes and dry them away from heating appliances.

How to repair a leather jacket after washing

As a rule, manufacturers of leather jackets do not recommend washing their products, as the fabric can wrinkle strongly and irrevocably lose its former attractiveness. If you nevertheless decide to wash your clothes, do it by hand or in the washing machine in the mode of hand (gentle, delicate) wash without spinning and drying. The water temperature should be 30–40 ° C. On very dirty areas, apply a prewash detergent (e.g. brands HG, Ecomax, Frosch), and after 5 min. wash the product. If you do this with your hands (which is preferable), scrub the canvas with a sponge and do not crease.

When rinsing, add a little cream or 4–6% milk to the water to compensate for the loss of fat from natural skin. Place the jacket on a horizontal surface away from radiators or direct sunlight with terry towels inside the garment. When they absorb excess moisture and water stops flowing from the jacket, dry the clothes vertically, gently straightening them on the hangers. If the skin is wrinkled after washing, treat the inside of the product with hot steam or iron, slightly heating the sole of the iron.

Try to get away with dry or damp cleaning of your leather jacket, no washing. In difficult cases, it is recommended to contact a professional dry cleaner with a good reputation

Even after a delicate wash, leather clothing needs to be repaired, otherwise it will be harsh. Rub the canvas with one of these products:

– glycerin; – beeswax; – petroleum jelly; – castor oil; – colorless leather shoe cream.

Remember to regularly clean and lubricate your jacket in the future to keep it looking great at all times.
