How to remove the tank of the Indesit washing machine with your own hands

Is the work of the equipment stopped by an unforeseen breakdown? Often problems with the rotation of the drum occur when the bearings are worn or a foreign object enters. Both the first and second cases may require disassembly of the unit. Do you want to handle the renovation yourself? Then you need to know how to remove the drum from the washing machine “Indesite».

Repair of SMA “Indesit”: preparatory work

Before you change the drum bearing or perform other work related to disassembling the tank, you will have to completely disassemble the machine. Therefore, free up space in advance for such large-scale work. It is best to do this in a garage or other non-residential premises. In extreme cases, the kitchen is also suitable, just keep in mind that the equipment needs to be moved to the center of the room so that it is convenient to get close to any panel.

You will also need these tools:

  • a set of slotted and Phillips screwdrivers;
  • socket wrenches;
  • a hammer;
  • passages;
  • hexagon;
  • drill;
  • hacksaw for metal.

Additionally, prepare adhesive sealant, rags and water containers. Although the washing machine is disconnected from the water supply, water remains in the hoses and pipes. Do not rush to buy replacement parts in advance, it is better to take out the old elements and go to the store with them. So you definitely won’t go wrong with your choice.

Proceed to the next step.

How to disassemble an Indesit washing machine?

Start with these steps:

  • Disconnect the machine from power.
  • Close the inlet valve.
  • Substitute the container and disconnect the hoses leading to the washer body.

Now you need to drain the remaining water so that during disassembly it does not get on the electronic parts. On the Indesit washing machine, the drain filter is hidden behind a long plinth panel. It is located under the loading hatch. Do this:

  • Release the panel latch (use a flathead screwdriver).
  • Substitute the container.
  • Unscrew the filter plug.
  • Wait for the water to drain (clean the filter at the same time).

Also, water may be on the electronic board, pouring out from the dispenser tray. Remove it by pressing the latch in the center. Now you can safely turn the case over and replace broken parts.

Place an old blanket on it so as not to damage the floor covering and the CMA body. Move the car to the center of the room. Here’s how the disassembly is done by hand:

  • Remove the top cover of the washer by unscrewing the fixing screws at the back (move back a little and remove).
  • After unscrewing the bolts around the perimeter, remove the rear wall.
  • Here is the back of the tank. If rusty streaks are visible from the central part, this indicates bearing wear.
  • Alternately scrolling the pulley, remove the drive belt.
  • Now you need to remove everything that is attached to the tank. Disconnect the wiring first. It is often secured with plastic clamps that can be unclenched or cut (later replaced with new ones).

How to unscrew the heating element of the machine? To get the heating element (outputs under the tank), immediately take a picture of its connection. Then:

  • Disconnect wiring.
  • Tighten the central nut (not completely).
  • Push the bolt in.
  • Pry the heating element with a screwdriver and remove it from the socket.

Subsequently, the sealing gum of the heater must be replaced, otherwise a leak is possible. Great, then remove the motor. You can skip this step, you can actually get the tank with the engine fixed at the bottom. But! Firstly, the motor is quite heavy, which will create difficulties during dismantling. Secondly, it can inadvertently be damaged. Why are you replacing the engine? It is better to immediately remove the node, acting like this:

  • Disconnect the engine wiring.
  • Loosen the fixing screws.
  • Swinging the motor back and forth, remove it from the housing.

Look under the top cover of the washing machine. The device of the technique provides a counterweight. This stone restrains the oscillations of the tank during rapid rotation. The counterweight must be removed:

  • Using a hex wrench, remove the bolts.
  • Remove counterweight.

Next, everything that is attached to the top is turned off. To remove the drum in the Indesit washing machine, continue disassembling:

  • Disconnect the wires from the level sensor (pressure switch). It is located at the side wall and is shaped like a tablet.
  • Then unscrew the fixing screw and disconnect the hoses.
  • Remove the hoses leading to the hopper (powder receiver), to do this, release their clamps. Remove the element from the housing.

Finished with the top. Lay the SMA on its side and remove the bottom (if any). To do this, unscrew the bolts. If the Aquastop sensor is attached to the bottom, then disconnect its wiring. Take a look inside:

  • Remove the drain filter mounting bolts.
  • Disconnect pump wires.
  • Using pliers, open the clamps and remove the pipe and drain hose.
  • Take out the pump along with the snail.
  • Unscrew the shock absorber bolts (one of them is attached to the tank, the other to the body).

Return the machine to its original position. Open the hatch door. Unscrew the two UBL (electronic lock) bolts and disconnect its wiring. Insert the cuff into the drum. When dismantling, the control panel may interfere, so it is better to remove it. For this:

  • Remove the fixing bolts around the perimeter.
  • Release the latch.
  • Leave the panel hanging on the wires if you don’t want to deal with rewiring.

Now nothing interferes with further work, so a broken element can be replaced. But only after the last step.

How to get a drum in CMA Indesit?

Now the tank was left hanging on two springs. Lift the element up, removing it from the springs and pulling it out of the housing.

Next, how to change the drum or bearing. In Indesit machines, the tanks are non-separable. If in washing machines from other manufacturers two parts are bolted together, then here they represent a single whole. For work, a hacksaw for metal is useful.

Start by removing the pulley. Secure it with a bar to prevent rotation. Using a wrench, unscrew the center bolt and remove the pulley. Next, install the assembly with an edge. Find the weld. Mark in advance places for future fasteners. Drill holes with a drill.

Start cutting:

  • Carefully cut the tank in two.
  • Remove one half and remove the drum from the other.

Replace the elements and proceed to the assembly. After setting the drum in place, connect the two halves. Lubricate the joints with glue-sealant. This will prevent leakage and strengthen the connection. Fasten the parts with screws in the holes made.

Now you can assemble the equipment in reverse order. Photos during the repair will help you with this, especially where the wiring is connected. After assembly, connect the washer to communications and run a test wash. It is important that the assembly connections withstand the load at high speeds and do not leak.

The video will help you understand the intricacies of repair:

Such repairs from the master will not be cheap, because the process is laborious. Therefore, if you wish, you can do it on your own. It is important to do everything right in order to fix the breakdown and use the equipment for at least another five years.
