Stationery and double-sided construction tape are often used in everyday life. However, after removing them, traces remain on the objects, on which dust and dirt adhere. You can effectively remove such stains with the help of some available tools.
How to remove sticky scotch marks
Very quickly and effortlessly, you can remove sticky scotch marks with vegetable oil. To do this, apply a small amount of oil to a cotton swab, sponge or rag and carefully wipe the surface where the tape was. Once the stain has disappeared, wash off the oil with soapy water or dish soap. This method removes traces of adhesive tape from plastic and polished furniture, since it does not leave scuffs and scratches on the surface.
If there is no vegetable oil at hand, the remnants of the adhesive tape on hard plastic, polished wood are removed with a regular stationery eraser. Rub it over the stain and it will come off completely. Then wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth. This method takes a little more time and physical effort.
It is not recommended to use alcohol to remove scotch marks from car body parts, as this substance will dissolve the paint. Do not wipe plastic or painted surfaces with acetone

How to remove double-sided tape and traces of it
Removing double-sided construction tape and its traces will require more radical methods, since this material holds stronger than stationery tape. If the surface can withstand high temperatures, heat it with a hair dryer before removing. Then peel off the tape and wipe the area with a clean rag.
If the surface cannot be heated with a hairdryer, use vegetable oil to remove the tape marks, and then wipe with a dishwashing detergent or soap solution. A small stain can be removed with gasoline, but it is necessary to reduce the contact time between the surface and this substance.
When removing stains with chemicals, before applying them, you should check the effect on a small area.
Household chemicals specially designed for these purposes will help to remove sticky traces of adhesive tape. There are methods for removing such stains on an industrial scale. So, for processing many small marks or a large spot in area, a rubber drill pad is used.
