How to remove shipping bolts from a washing machine – instructions

Every new washing machine has shipping bolts. If for some reason they are not removed before the machine is turned on for the first time, they can not only affect the quality of the wash, but also provoke a breakdown of the equipment. Therefore, knowing how to remove these bolts will be useful to you.

Separately, we welcome readers who are interested in where the shipping bolts are located. Perhaps you could not find their location, more on that below.

Purpose of transport braces

The task of the transport bolts on the washing machine is to fix the tank. The manufacturer took such precautions to protect expensive equipment during transportation and when climbing to the floor. Fasteners are screwed in such a way that inside the machine the parts do not touch each other and do not hit the walls. As a result, the tank and all parts inside the case remain intact even after difficult transportation.

This is interesting! If you are buying a used washing machine, be sure to ask the seller about the availability of transport locks. If you do not fix the tank, you can bring the equipment out of order.

If you are moving and you have lost the mounts, contact your retailer or service center. You can find fasteners at the “dismantling” – from craftsmen who disassemble and repair household appliances.

How to remove fasteners

Proper connection to the sewerage system, water supply system and electrical network is the key to the smooth operation of the AGR. But forgotten bolts can get in the way. Therefore, take the time to study a short instruction on how to remove the shipping bolts from your machine.

Important! If, due to the fact that you have not removed the fasteners, the machine breaks, this is not considered a warranty case. The service center will not eliminate the consequences of negligence free of charge.

To remove the bolts, you do not have to disassemble the washer. Turn the machine towards you with the back side – there, on the panel, you will see 3 or 4 fasteners. In rare cases, instead of bolts, the manufacturer uses small metal pins (for the Gorenie, Mile brands).

The specific location of the mounts is rare. But in the workshops there were situations when fasteners were found under the top cover.

Important! In almost 100% of cases, suppliers provide information about the location of the fasteners in the user manual. Look there.

Before you remove the bolts for transport, arm yourself with tools. You will need a wrench (see which one you need – 10 or 14 mm).

If you don’t have the right key at hand, take pliers – they can both twist the bolts and remove the pins. When removing, take them with pliers and turn them ¼ turn in either direction. After that, you can easily get them.

Important! Do not throw away the fasteners, but put them in a safe place. You will need them if you plan to move.

Are there holes left? Look in the box of the machine, in it you will find a small bag of plastic plugs. They perform an exclusively aesthetic function, but the machine works a little quieter with them.

In order for the washer to successfully move again, you need to know how to put on the bolts. To do this, use a thin screwdriver or a knife to remove the plugs, insert the bolts into the holes and screw them in.
