How to remove rust stains
If your clothes have rust stains, you can take them to the dry cleaner, but this will be expensive. Therefore, the question often arises of how to remove rust stains on your own. There are several simple and effective ways to do this.
How to remove rust stains from white items?
Stains on white clothes are always immediately visible. And getting rid of them is sometimes difficult. The following methods will help to cope with such a problem:
- Lemon acid. Dissolve 20 g of acid in half a glass of pure water. Heat mixture over low heat, but do not bring to a boil. Dip the soiled thing into the resulting composition, stand for five minutes.
- Salt. In a small saucepan, stir in equal proportions table salt and citric acid. Pour in some water. The result should be a mushy consistency. Apply the prepared mixture to the stain and let sit for 30 minutes. If it was not possible to get rid of the marks at once, then after the fabric dries, the procedure can be repeated.
- Lime or lemon. Cut a wedge from the citrus. Wrap it in a small piece of gauze and attach it to the stain. Place a preheated iron on it. Warm up for a minute. It remains only to wash the thing in the usual way, and the traces will disappear.
Such simple methods will allow you to quickly and effectively get rid of even large stains.
Is it possible to remove rust stains from colored clothing
If rusty marks have formed on colored fabric, you can use one of the following methods:
- Acetic acid. Dissolve a couple of tablespoons of the essence in a glass of water. Heat the prepared composition, but do not boil. Submerge the contaminated area in the liquid and hold for five minutes. Then rinse in a vinegar solution (1 tablespoon per liter of water).
- Soap and glycerin. Combine water, soap solution and glycerin in equal parts. Treat the contamination with the prepared mixture and stand for a day. After that, all that remains is to rinse the item in warm water.
- Glycerin and tooth powder. Place equal amounts of tooth powder, water, and glycerin in a small container. Apply the prepared composition to the stain. Withstand a day. After that, you can wash your clothes in the usual way.
- Oxalic acid. Dissolve 250 g of oxalic acid and the same amount of vinegar essence in 8 ml of water. Heat the mixture over a fire, but do not bring to a boil. Dip a piece of clothing with a stain in the composition for 10-15 minutes. After that, simply rinse the item in clean water.
These simple methods will allow you to keep your clothes clean without too much cost.
