You can eliminate the smell with the help of professional products. When choosing a product, you should pay attention to those that neutralize rather than mask odors. But there are many effective folk remedies for removing unpleasant odors from the couch.
If beer, wine, or other drinks have been poured onto the sofa, vinegar is needed. It is necessary to dissolve 1 ml of vinegar and 5 g of salt in 10 liter of warm water. In the resulting solution, soak a piece of thin natural fabric, wring out, cover the sofa.
The fabric must be pressed tightly to the surface, you can walk on top with a beater for dust. After 10-15 minutes, the fabric should be wet again. Repeat the procedure at least five times. Such cleaning will not only help remove unpleasant odors, stains, but also return bright colors to the upholstery.
Salt is a natural absorbent. Furniture with an unpleasant smell should be covered with regular or scented salt, and left for 9 hours. Then gently remove the layer with a brush or a vacuum cleaner for a car.
It absorbs smells of black or green tea well. The bags can be spread over the surface of the sofa and left for several days. If the furniture is not light, you can clean it with ground coffee – sprinkle it evenly over the surface, remove after 5 hours.

You need to move from the edges to the center: this will help to avoid the appearance of streaks.

Urine odor is difficult to remove as it is fairly persistent. Iodine can be used to remove baby urine. Dissolve 1 drops of iodine in 15 liter of warm water, treat the surface. This method is only suitable for dark upholstery. For light furniture, you need to dilute lemon juice in the same proportions.
Laundry soap will help remove stubborn stains. They need to be moistened with water, rubbed with soap, and left for 15 minutes. Prepare a solution of 1 liter of water and 15 ml of vinegar essence, rinse off the soap. Wipe the furniture clean with a dry cloth, dry it with a hair dryer. If you have to remove the urine of an elderly person, then you must first fill the spots with diluted medical or ammonia, leave for half an hour.
To completely remove the smell of animal urine, complex cleansing is required.
What is necessary:
- vinegar – 150 ml;
- hydrogen peroxide – 150 ml;
- dishwashing detergent – 2 tsp;
- water – 450 ml + 150 ml;
- soda.
Mix vinegar with 450 ml of water, pour over stains, blot excess moisture. Combine water with an equal amount of peroxide, pour in dish detergent. Cover the surface with soda, apply a peroxide solution on top. Leave for 2 hours, wipe with a damp cloth, pat dry with paper towels. To scare the cat away from the couch, you need to throw a few orange peels into the laundry storage box.
Unpleasant odors on furniture irritate household members and scare away guests. Furniture should be cleaned every 6 months, even if it looks clean on the outside.
