How to remove a magnet from clothes. Video
Not so long ago, a useful innovation appeared in many clothing and grocery stores – magnetic tags on goods. They help sellers make sure that every item is paid for. Still, it is not so easy to remove such a tag without paying for the thing.
Despite the security measures that are taken in clothing stores, there are quite a few cases of product theft. Neither harsh security guards nor video cameras help protect themselves from shoplifters. The presence of protective magnetic tags on the clothes sold allows at least to minimize the number of shoplifting – at the checkout these devices are removed from the clothes, but if this is not done, then when the item is taken out with a magnet at the exit, the magnetic frame will work and fill the store with an unpleasant squeak.
How do these devices work?
The magnetic tag is very easy to attach to clothing, but it is extremely difficult to remove it manually without damaging the item. The magnet consists of two parts – a metal nail and a plastic base with magnetic balls inside. The thing is pierced with a carnation, and a plastic tag is put on top of it. You will not be able to tear off the nail from the base with your fingers – the magnetic balls inside the structure will hold it firmly. But when at the checkout the seller lowers the tag into a special device, the magnetic balls disperse to the sides and release the carnation.
Conscientious sellers stick studs of tags only into the seams of a thing, otherwise ugly holes will form on some types of fabric (for example, thin knitwear or leather). If the item is damaged by a tag, you have the right to demand an exchange
Shoplifters usually simply tear out the tag in the fitting room along with the fabric, which, of course, immediately spoils the appearance of the thing, leaving unsightly holes on it, so it is not entirely clear how they are going to wear this thing later.
For demagnetizing tags, there are both highly specialized (only for a specific type of tags) and universal devices. In order to demagnetize the tag using the apparatus, it is placed in the recess with its protruding part – and the tag is easily removed. Then the tags can be used over and over again.
Can I remove the tag myself?
It so happens that there are not one, but two tags on clothes, and the seller simply forgets to remove one of them. As a result, at the exit, the frame begins to emit a sound, but the seller, seeing the buyer who paid for the goods, writes off everything to barcodes and the frame malfunction. As a result, the buyer, on whose clothes the magnetic tag remains, will have to either remove it at home on their own, or go to the store again.
Do not try to detach the tag yourself with a magnet in a store. Firstly, it is illegal, and secondly, your magnet will still beep at the exit, after which the guard will take over the unscrupulous buyer
If this situation has happened to you, a strong magnet will help you – the strongest you can find. For example, strong magnets are used in computer hard drives – if you have an old one lying around, it will work fine. To remove the tag, place the magnet on the protruding part of the tag – it should easily detach from the stud.
