How do you relieve kidney pain? Are there any over-the-counter medications at the pharmacy to help manage kidney pain? What home remedies for pain are worth using? Are warm compresses or herbs enough? The question is answered by the drug. Anna Mitschke.

How do you deal with kidney pain?

Good day. I recently had a cold kidney. All because of the work on the plot. I had a piece of soil to dig, and unfortunately, the slightly exposed back protruding from under my shirt and the wind were enough to make me feel a day later that it is not good. Unfortunately, I am suffering from severe kidney pain right now. I was taking some ordinary painkillers, they helped a little, but not entirely, besides, after a while the pain came back and I wouldn’t want to stuff myself with painkillers all the time.

Therefore, I would like to ask how to alleviate I grow from? Are there any good over-the-counter medications for this? Or maybe some home remedies? I am wondering about compresses, but I don’t know what to do with them. Maybe cold or warm compresses will be enough, or maybe a better solution will be to use some herbs? I know that I ask about things loosely related to medicine, but I’d rather avoid seeing a doctor for now, especially since it’s just plain kidney pain caused by my lack of caution. I would be grateful for your advice.

Your doctor explains how you can fight kidney pain

Back pain in the lumbar region, which is where the kidneys are located, can have many causes. The most common pains come from the spine and the surrounding tissues (muscles, ligaments). Pain that accompanies them often intensifies from keeping the body in one position, e.g. when standing for a long time, sitting, bending down frequently, or is related to exercise, physical activity. It usually starts gently and gradually increases and is steady. The exception is pain caused by an injury. Often, spine pain disappears after rubbing the sore spot, or after applying warm compresses or relaxing exercises.

Pain of kidney origin it is very strong, sharp, colic, piercing, often radiating to the groin. This pain is often compared to the pain of labor contractions. The duration of pain, its severity, the direction of radiation, the circumstances in which it occurred for the first time, and accompanying ailments, chronic diseases are important. Diseases that manifest themselves, inter alia, in kidney pain is nephrolithiasis, nephritis, e.g. pyelonephritis, urinary tract infection with kidney involvement, kidney cysts, tumors and others. Symptoms accompanying kidney pain are important, such as pollakiuria, nocturia (frequent urination at night), pain in the lower abdomen, pain when urinating, haematuria, change in color or smell of urine, presence of edema, fever, signs of infection, anuria, polyuria, nausea, vomiting. The medical history is very important in determining the cause, whether such ailments occurred in the past or occurred for the first time.

The treatment you choose depends on the cause of your kidney pain. I don’t recommend home remedies for kidney pain. In such a situation, you should go to a doctor who will take an interview, examine the patient, or perform further diagnostics, e.g. blood, urine, kidney ultrasound, refer to a specialist if necessary and decide on the treatment based on the accompanying symptoms.
