It is recommended to wash off the whitewash in several stages:
uniform wetting of the ceiling surface. It is better to do it in parts. While in one place the old whitewash will be scraped off, in another it will be saturated with moisture;
re-moisturizing after 10 minutes;
removing with a spatula whitewash that has absorbed moisture well. It must not drip or dust. In the first case, you will have to wait for better absorption, in the second – moisten the ceiling a little more. Well-removable wet layers are a sign of the correctness of actions;
rinsing the ceiling with a large sponge dipped in warm water. In this case, the water should not drain violently. While running a damp sponge across the ceiling, it is good to keep a small tray for the dripping dirt at this time.
