How to quickly heal a throat at home

Drink more fluids

Drink plenty of fluids to keep dry mucous membranes hydrated and soothe sore throat. Drinking fluids not only relieves irritation and dry mouth, but also flushes bacteria from the throat lining. Warm drinks (tea or coffee) can significantly reduce inflammation and relieve sore throat. However, if the cause of the illness is the flu or cold, beverages containing caffeine should be avoided. They are diuretic and can lead to dehydration. In this case, it is better to replace them with citrus drinks – lemonade or orange juice with honey, which are good for sore throat.

Suck garlic

It sounds unappetizing, but garlic can help stop inflammation early on. Garlic contains allicin, a powerful natural antiseptic that kills bacteria that cause sore throat. You need to take a fresh clove of garlic, cut it in half and place each half by the cheek. Do not bite into the garlic, but simply suck in the juice, then spit out the cake.

Prepare a miracle drink

The oldest remedy for a sore throat is a drink made from honey, apple cider vinegar and water. Mix a tablespoon of honey plus a tablespoon of vinegar in a glass of water and drink. There is also a more radical folk remedy: take a tablespoon of horseradish, ground cloves, honey and dissolve in a glass of warm water.

Salt water mouthwash

Rinsing your mouth with saline solution at least once an hour can help the inflammation and sore throat decrease and the swelling will subside. The most suitable option for preparing a saline solution: dissolve a tablespoon of salt in a glass of warm water. You can also add a tablespoon of sage or half a teaspoon of turmeric to the solution. They not only improve the taste of the solution, but also have medicinal properties. It is advisable to rinse your mouth once an hour. If you have a runny nose, then the procedure should be done every 30 minutes.

Steam inhalation

If a cold is the cause of your sore throat, or you are looking for a way to clear your sinuses, it is worth trying some steam. Research has shown that this is a highly effective treatment for coughs and runny nose. An easy way to get some steam is to take a hot shower, but you can also hold your face over a pot of hot water by covering your head with a towel. Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the water, this will enhance the positive effect of inhalation.
