There are four main points:

  2. Don’t hesitate to pause. The easiest way to do this is to train yourself to actively listen: “Do you want me to sign the contract today?” While you clarify what you were told, you will have the opportunity to think about what is really important to you and how the proposed options meet your needs. At this moment, the message, designed for an unconscious reaction, reaches consciousness.
  3. Knowing your true motives, goals and desires also helps a lot. Remember that we refuse stereotypical thinking only when it comes to something important.
  4. Skills of analysis, introspection. It is much easier to do this for a person working on himself. If you have worked through a situation that you are not happy with, have developed an alternative way of responding, next time you will have a much better chance of doing more effectively, avoiding an automatic reaction.
