How to protect dogs and cats from Christmas firecrackers

Christmas tree and garlands… Reinforce the tree securely. At home we fix it on stretchers so that none of our six animals (two large dogs and four cats) knock it over. It is better to bring the tree home in advance and do not decorate it within XNUMX hours – let it get used to it. Kittens and young cats up to three years old show the most interest in the tree. Hang glass toys higher, below – only plastic ones. Electric garlands – under the ceiling. It is better to give up the rain altogether.

Festive table. Do not leave anything edible unattended. Especially if the animal is allergic. Stock up on antihistamines for the holidays. For dogs, chocolate is a real poison, and for cats, salty foods are harmful.

Fireworks and firecrackers. To save your dog from stress, walk him early, before it gets dark. Frightened by the rumble, the animal can wriggle out of the collar and run away. Buy a secure martingale collar. Do not walk dogs on roulette leashes during the New Year holidays – they are poorly held in your hands. Put an address tag around the dog’s neck – a plate with your phone number. The address tag should not be attached to the collar; it is better to tie it separately – on a tight cord. And a couple of days before New Year’s Eve, equip your four-legged friend in the darkest room in the house – usually a bathroom. Drag the bedding of the animal there and, when the volleys start, take it into the darkness. Stay close, feed with sweets so that the dog knows: the beloved owner will come to the rescue if something happens.
