How to properly wash your jacket

How to properly wash your jacket

Information about whether the jacket can be washed is always indicated on the tag. Expensive suits made of natural silk and fine wool are best dry-cleaned. Do not wet corduroy, velvet, leather and suede products. In other cases, the thing can be tidied up at home.

How to properly care for your jacket

It is not advisable to wet the jacket often. To keep it looking fresh and presentable, it must be regularly cleaned and ironed, and kept hanging in a wardrobe. When you see a fresh stain on the fabric, try to immediately remove it with soap and a sponge. Treat glossy areas with ammonia.

The woolen jacket cannot be washed – it must be dry cleaned

A semi-woolen or satin jacket is hand washed:

  1. Pour warm water into a basin. Add gel for delicate fabrics.
  2. Remove contents from jacket pockets. Fasten it with buttons.
  3. Using a brush or sponge and soapy water, clean the cloth where it is visibly dirty.
  4. Submerge your jacket in a bowl of water. After half an hour, remove it from the solution.
  5. Rinse clothing thoroughly in cool water. Add a little acetic acid during the last rinse.
  6. Transfer the jacket to the bottom of the tub to drain the water. After an hour, hang the item on a hanger and wait for it to dry completely.

In hot weather, it is advisable to dry the jacket in the open air in partial shade, in winter – in a warm room away from heating appliances. When the item is dry, you can remove creases and bruises by steaming the surface of the item with an iron. The jacket should be ironed through cheesecloth.

The automatic wash is suitable for cotton, linen and polyester items. Before loading the jacket into the drum, it should be prepared: buttoned up, remove stains and put the contents of the pockets. To avoid additional rinsing, use a detergent gel. A softener can be added to cotton and linen if they are not impregnated with special stiffeners.

Linen jacket can be machine washed at 40 degrees

Advice. Wash a suit jacket together with trousers so that in the future things do not differ from each other in color saturation.

The machine wash depends on the type of fabric. Polyester and linen items require delicate care. The optimum water temperature for them is 30-40 ° C. A summer cotton jacket is refreshed in cotton mode at 40 ° C. You need to wring out the product at the minimum speed – 500-600. If the garment is wrinkled a lot, the spin can be turned off. The jacket is dried in the same way as after hand washing, – on a coat hanger, buttoned.

So, silk, woolen, velvet and leather products are dry-cleaned. Satin and wool blend jackets are hand washed, synthetic, cotton and linen jackets are machine washed.
