How to properly transplant aloe at home
Aloe is a houseplant known for its medicinal properties. Although this succulent is extremely unpretentious, you need to know how to transplant aloe with minimal damage to the plant.
How to propagate and transplant aloe at home
Seed propagation is a rather lengthy process. Ripe seeds are sown in small pots with a mixture of earth and sand. The optimum temperature for germination is 21-22 ° C. Fortified seedlings are transplanted into separate pots. To make the soil looser, charcoal is added to it. Watering should be moderate but regular. After a year, it is advisable to transplant the plants into larger pots.
Cutting is a simple and effective way. In spring or summer, healthy shoots are cut into pieces and left in the shade for three days. The cuts are sprinkled with charcoal powder. Prepared cuttings are planted in a container with moistened sand to a depth of 15 mm at a distance of 5-6 cm from one another.
In order for the cuttings to root out faster, the sand must be constantly kept moist. Young seedlings are transplanted into small pots with prepared soil.
How to properly transplant aloe
A newly purchased flower cannot be transplanted immediately. You need to wait at least 3 weeks for the plant to acclimatize in the new conditions. The flower is transplanted after the roots have completely filled the space of the pot. The diameter of the new container should be 3 cm larger than the previous one.
If you leave the aloe in a cramped pot, it will slow down its growth. If the roots do not fill the entire pot, you can simply change part of the soil. It is not necessary to completely change the composition of the substrate – this is stress for the plant.
A day before the estimated time of transplantation, the flower begins to be watered abundantly
Before transplanting, the soil is carefully loosened, trying not to damage the roots. At the bottom of the new container, you need to pour a layer of expanded clay or broken brick for drainage, and then sprinkle it with earth. The old pot together with the plant is carefully turned over, taking out the flower along with the earthen lump.
Aloe is placed in a pot so that the root collar is 2-3 cm below the top of the container. The free space is covered with earth, compacted and watered a little.
After transplantation, the aloe is placed in the shade for 3-4 days. It is better not to water the plant so that the roots do not rot.
Compliance with the rules of transplantation is the key to the health and normal development of the plant.
