How to properly store Christmas decorations: tips

We celebrated the New Year, we celebrated Christmas, and we haven’t forgotten about the old New Year either! And now it’s time to disassemble the tree and figure out where to hide all the decor so that it doesn’t get tangled underfoot.

The holidays are over, the magic has dissipated, and you are faced with a quite reasonable question: what to do with all this New Year’s tinsel, wreaths, garlands, so as not to stumble over all this beauty until next year. We’ve found some creative ideas that will surely help you keep your Christmas decorations intact.

Let’s start with Christmas tree decorations. You can divide them by color and pack in transparent zip bags. Then next year you won’t have to go through a bunch of boxes / bags if you suddenly decide to decorate your Christmas tree in the color of the symbol of the year.

If you have an artificial spruce at home, then you are incredibly lucky. No, not because you respected the “greens” and saved the planet, but because it is much easier for you to remove the tree without pulling out numerous crumbling needles from the carpet and laminate. But to keep your tree in perfect condition, before throwing it on the mezzanine or balcony, do a few simple manipulations. To start wipe the needles with a damp clothto remove dust and debris. But do not overdo it, otherwise mold will form in the wet branches. The storage location, by the way, should also not be humid and sunny. Further sew a special cover for your Christmas tree… By the way, an old sheet or canvas fabric is perfect for this. You can go even further and make several bags: for the lower and upper branches. Then it will be even easier to store them.

If you know that feeling when you unwind a garland for hours to finally decorate a window or tree, then it’s time to change that! To avoid repeating your mistakes next year, before packing colored bulbs, wrap them around a flat piece of cardboard. This way, the garland will not get tangled, and you will save your nerves the next time you take it out.

For those who do not like cardboard, we can advise use cans for these purposes (from under coffee or tea). Make a cross-shaped slot in the lid, place a socket inside the jar, and carefully wrap the garland itself around the jar.

But for garland beads ideal plastic bottles will do! Throw your jewelry in there and carefully put it on the mezzanine. Both aesthetically pleasing and practical!

Unbreakable Christmas toys can be stored in a container. But not just like that, but by hanging it on a special crossbar. Take a special stick / wooden knitting needle, carefully string the jewelry on it and place it in the container (from wall to wall so that the crossbar is firmly abutted and does not slip). You can also place special dividers in the container (which remain from under new glasses, for example) and place a separate toy in each compartment.

Live Christmas wreaths can be stored in a closet. But only if it has a specially provided storage system or additional hooks. Just imagine what a coniferous smell will accompany you every time you open the closet! Just like in Narnia.

If there are no special hooks or additional space in the closet, then for a wreath you can adapt round box (for example, from under the hats) or container for pies… In this form, the fluffy twigs will definitely survive until next season.
