There are the following types of artificial stones for decoration:
- plaster;
- acrylic;
- quartz.
For the interior wall, the easiest way is to use plaster. This material is the lightest, it can decorate even a thin partition. What to glue a gypsum decorative stone on? For any glue, from simple PVA to a special solution.
Interior decoration of a room with a stone consists of the following stages:
- Surface preparation, it should be cleaned of all previous coatings. Can decorative stone be glued to wallpaper? This is a gross mistake. They must be completely removed from the wall and then primed.
- An adhesive is applied to both the cleaned wall and decorative tiles;
- Pieces of stone are carefully applied, forming the desired pattern;
- Rusting the seams, clean and cover the seams between the tiles with a special compound;
- The last step is to apply a special protective layer.
If the wall is concrete, then it should be plaster and primed beforehand.
How to properly glue decorative stone to external walls
Decorative stone looks great when decorating exterior walls, balconies, entrances and arches. It can be used to decorate the gazebo in the garden or to decorate the sides of the pond with it. It gives the exterior of the house a refined and noble look.
For outdoor decoration, it is best to choose durable and weather-resistant quartz slabs. In this case, the installation technology should be observed.
- Prepare the wall carefully, fix the painting net on it, and then apply a layer of plaster;
- For exterior finishes, choose a cementitious adhesive backing. Dilute it as directed on the package and apply to the surface. First in a continuous layer, then make furrows. Apply the same cement to stones;
- Apply stones at a distance of 1-2 cm and press lightly;
- When the cement is dry, peel it off and apply a protective layer to the joints.
Thus, it is worth processing no more than 1 sq. m of area at a time. Otherwise, the solution will dry out too quickly.
